European Marine Science Educators Association (EMSEA)! EMSEA is a network of marine science educators acting as one voice across Europe and beyond. Our mission is to act as a hub for the European marine education community to promote and deliver Ocean Literacy across society by working with scientists, teachers, policy makers and the public. Our Vision? Our shared vision is a society of Ocean Literate citizens who recognise the vital importance of the Ocean, working together to ensure it is sustained for future generations. What do we do? EMSEA is a membership organisation. We support our members by sharing good practice and training opportunities through our annual international conferences. We work on grant-funded projects, ensuring our members can benefit from this work. We organise events within our EMSEA regional groups and provide ways for the network to connect through digital platforms.

🌊 It’s Official! EMSEA Conference 2025 is Coming to Ostend, Belgium! 🎉 We’re beyond excited to finally share the time and place for the #EMSEA2025 ! This year, in collaboration with our fantastic partners and co-organizers – VLIZ - Flanders Marine Institute, EMODnet, EuroGOOS, European Global Ocean Observing System - we invite you to join us in Ostend, Belgium, from September 17–19, 2025. Ostend is Belgium’s largest coastal city — a place deeply connected to the ocean. Originally a small fishing village on the east end (oost-einde) of an island between the North Sea and a beach lake, it has long been a key maritime hub. With a history of fishing, trade, and an important strategic harbor, Ostend continues to be a thriving center for ocean-related activities. 🌊 Discover EMSEA’s Work on Ocean Literacy and Sports! 🌍 If you know #EMSEA, you’ve likely heard about our work within the #OSES project—a collaboration focused on protecting marine ecosystems, improving ocean literacy, and inspiring sustainable practices, especially through #WaterSports. 📘 A while ago, we published the OSES Good Practices Handbook, a valuable resource that outlines actionable solutions to protect marine ecosystems, improve ocean literacy, and inspire sustainable practices through water sports.
