📌 Polish Presidency 2025: Advancing #Sport, #Education, and Active Lifestyles From January to June 2025, the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU is committed to leveraging sport as a key driver for positive change. In the area of sport, their main objectives include: ➡️ Strengthening the role of sport in education, making it an integral part of the learning process. ➡️ Tackling the decline in physical activity levels among children and young people. ➡️ Promoting sport as a tool for improving both physical and mental health. ➡️ Recognizing and emphasizing the role of athletes in creating transparent and inclusive sports systems. 🌿 At Sport and Citizenship, we strongly support these priorities. Through projects like Planet Ball and OSES, we use sport to educate youth on environmental issues. Similarly, our PACTE+ project fights against Europe’s sedentary crisis, promoting healthier and more active lifestyles. [2025] A new year is beginning for Sport and Citizenship and it's time to take stock, because 2024 was rich: 🔹 in events:  ▶️ + 70 organised in Europe (workshops, webinars) including the first Sport Citizenship Conferences in Paris held by our Think Tank.  ▶️ Participation in around 15 events bringing together European sport stakeholders: Info Days, meeting with Glenn Micallef, Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport.  🔹 in opportunities:  ▶️ 3 EU projects coming to a fruitful end: SportBoard on ethics, City Green Go on the environment and SAYES on the fight against sexist and sexual violence,  ▶️ 3 new projects: - Replay, promoting the integration of displaced young people in Italy through sport, - SAFE, proposing a European model of therapeutic sports workshops for women victims of sexual violence, - and ExerSafe, aimed at creating inclusive and safe sports facilities for women. While continuing our current projects to bring together European key figures around the major challenges of sport to better address them: PACTE+, OSES, Planet Ball, GAP Women, Green Team, My sportive Heritage, Move at Work, RunforDiv.   🔹 In challenges met thanks to joint work with our partners: TAFISA, EFCS, ISCA, MSV, DAN Europe, Surfrider Foundation Europe, Universitat de Barcelona, Fundación Real Betis Balompié and many others. Thank you all! 🔹 In sharing: over 80 articles published to explain and raise social awareness of sport, written by our team and our scientific committee!  🔹 In impact: the analysis of projects on an EU scale to assess the efficiency of the actions put in place. 🌍  Human Rights Day 2024 – Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now "Human rights can empower individuals and communities to forge a better tomorrow." underlines the United Nations. On this Human Rights Day, we highlight how sport can address global challenges. By embracing equality, freedom, and universal rights, we use sport’s power to inspire change and drive action. Through our European projects, we champion these values: ✅ For a livable planet for future generations: - Planet Ball: Educating young players on eco-responsible practices through football. - OSES: Raising awareness about ocean protection among youth. ✅  For gender equality and the fight against violence: - Gap Women: Promoting gender equality in sports and fostering inclusivity. - SAYES: Preventing and addressing sexual violence in ice sports.  ✅ For inclusion and fundamental rights for refugees: - FIRE+: Supporting refugee inclusion through football. - REPLAY: Promoting the inclusion of displaced youth through sport in Italy. 🎯 Reflecting on the SAYES Project Final Conference! 🌿 Towards Sustainable Sports Events with Green Team! Last week was dedicated to the Green Team project, which aims to support sports event organisers in developing sustainable sporting events. ▶️ Sport and Citizenship met the others Green Team partners in Gondomar to participate in a sustainable and inclusive sports event - with more than 100 children - organized as part of the project and to discuss the next stages of Green Team. 🔎 Regarging the event, sustainable measures included: - Eco-friendly transport options - Reusable water bottles & refill stations - Waste separation for recycling - Healthy, sustainable snacks - Energy-efficient venue powered by solar panels   Thank you to the organizers, Ala Nun'Álvares and the Union of Parishes of Gondomar for making this event a success! 🌿💪 Together, let's embrace sustainable practices for our planet. ➡️Interested in the project?
