We are on a mission! Last week, we had the pleasure of organising an in-depth demonstration of our life-saving sensor technology, aimed at preventing or at least mitigating the impact of blind spot accidents with vulnerable road users. During a broadly covered press conference, jointly organised by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and eXia Belgium, we proudly delivered a comprehensive showcase of our revolutionary Active Sideguard sensors. Based on a pioneering electric field sensing concept, Active Sideguard offers an unsurpassed robustness and all-weather performance, to stand even the most demanding transport assignments such as in construction. A heartfelt thank you to Thomas Reuliaux and our esteemed lead client Heidelberg Materials Belgium for graciously allowing us to showcase one of their newly delivered Renault Trucks C 8x4 concrete mixers equipped with Active Sideguard. Together we are advancing road safety standards, also for the most vulnerable ones! Indebted also to VUB and VUB research group ETRO.RDI, and our long-term partners imec.istart, PMV and Ethias, for their unwavering support. Looking back at an amazing week! We had the opportunity to showcase our revolutionary Active Sideguard blind spot sensor technology at a startling press event, hosted by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and reverberating accross all Flemish media and beyond. Following a brief opening address by VUB vice-rector elect Innovation & Valorisation, Peter Schelkens, our very own co-founder and managing director Bart Truyen provided some comprehensive insights into eXia Belgium’s life-saving sensor technology, and its many years of academic research at VUB research group ETRO.RDI. It clearly evidences the impact of fundamental research and how it may create impactful innovation, addressing some of the most important societal needs - road safety. Broadly featured by VRT NWS (TV1, 13h and 19h news), VTM Nieuws (13h and 19h news), Trends Kanaal Z, VRT Radio 2, Play Nostalgie, Het Laatste Nieuws, Nieuwsblad, Gazet van Antwerpen and Belga News Agency, news coverage was truly astonishing. Thank you Leen Vandevelde and the entire VUB MarCom team for tightly directing this authentic and unforgettable event. What a great recognition for the hard work of our dedicated and inspired people at eXia Belgium. Together we are on a mission to make our roads safer, also for the most vulnerable ones! Alongside press delegations and VUB dignitaries, we were delighted to welcome also a broad delegation of our long-term partner Ethias and Ethias Services. Finally, we own a sincere thank you to VUB, imec.istart and PMV for their unwavering support during all those years. #exia #VUB #VUBinnovation #VUBTechTransfer #etro_rdi #imec #imecistart #PMV #ethias #ethiasservices #activesideguard #blindspotaccidents #roadsafety

Spin-off eXia Belgium was cited by Prof. Peter Schelkens, vice-rector elect Innovation & Valorisation, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), as “an excellent example of serendipity and out-of-the box thinking” Great words to summarise 15 years of academic research, translating fundamental and application-oriented contributions in electric field sensing and imaging into a unique life-saving product with tangible societal impact. It was indeed quite a winding course into largely unchartered research territory, addressing a vast range of very diverse and sometimes surprising applications, that eventually lead to Active Sideguard, the world’s first ruggedised blind spot collision avoidance system pioneering low-frequency electric field sensing. However, we could not have done this without the unwavering support of the research group ETRO.RDI, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, imec.istart, and PMV. A big thank you also to all eXia team members, former members, and friends. We built this success on your passion, relentless efforts, and sacrifices. #vub #etro_rdi #imec #imecistart #pmv #exia #activesideguard #blindspotaccidents
#vub #imec #etro_rdi #exia #dodehoekongevallen
