Full Circle House is a new members club for creative, dynamic & forward-thinking people, from Brussels and beyond. We curate a rich programme of unique events and experiences from inspiring talks to cocktail workshops, tech sessions, fashion and art shows, and concerts. Our members are a special mix of those interested in new thinking and the exchange of ideas. The club is housed in a beautifully designed 5-storey traditional Brussels hôtel de maitre, located in between Avenue Louise and the vibrant Place Flagey. Members can drop in anytime with their guests, to make use of our bar, coffee and lounge areas, reading room and library, meeting and working spaces, screening room and state of the art 200-seat performance & conference space. 💡 Who decides what is 'realistic' when it comes to transforming a society? This weekend I had the pleasure to listen to Sophie Howe, the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, at the Ideas Festival in Bridie-Louise Full Circle Brussels. Wales was one of the first countries to legislate to protect future generations. The government invited citizens to shape 'the Wales we want' including 7 indicators for national wellbeing - not based on GDP growth 🌍 She and many other amazing speakers including Shinta Oosterwaal and Shada Islam painted a picture of how a political system based on wellbeing and long-term thinking is not just a nice idea, but something that can be, and has been, implemented in many places. ❗ My take - particularly in this political environment - is that it is not enough to hope that our own governments will follow suit, and to spend our time simply discussing these ideas in the abstract. We must get out of the conference halls and start taking initiative. Talking to local councillors, organising with neighbours, talking to people we never normally connect with in our bubble. We decide it is realistic, so it becomes so. ✨Inspiring weekend at the Ideas Festival✨ It was so enlightening to attend the #IdeasFestival event at Bridie-Louise Full Circle Brussels one week ago, and hear from Sophie Howe, the first-ever Commissioner for Future Generations. Sophie's work is groundbreaking, setting a vital precedent for prioritizing long-term well-being and sustainability. Her vision, outlined in 7 ambitious goals - Prosperous, Productive, Innovative, Low Carbon, Resilient, Healthy, Fair, and Globally Responsible - and 5 guiding principles - Involvement, Collaboration, Equity, Long-Term, and Integrity - provides a powerful framework for building a more just and sustainable future. The event itself was super engaging, and it's clear that Sophie's pioneering work is inspiring action around the world, including for the new EU Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness. Thank you to the Bridie-Louise Full Circle Brussels team for organising such an inspiring event.
