FUTURESILIENCE aims to strengthen European resilience through an enhanced ability to quickly respond to future crises.

About us

The FUTURESILIENCE project aims to strengthen European economic and social resilience through an enhanced ability to quickly respond to future crises. This will be accomplished by facilitating the fast and effective use of policy relevant research and innovation (R&I) findings through 10 pilot cases called 'Future Resilience Labs'. During the experimentation, multiple stakeholders will discuss and test evidence-based strategies tailored to their specific context and matching their local needs. The experimentation will be done in a co-creation environment applying Foresight and participative methodologies. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101094455.

  • 🟣 News from the COSIGHT Lab 🇩🇪 On February 5, the third workshop of the COSIGHT lab took place, engaging different local stakeholders from business, politics and practical integration work. The workshop was led by Dr. Marina Beermann & Anna Keremen from cociety. Participants worked on prioritisation of 10 measures for policy transfer, based on results from previous workshops. The focus was on labour market integration of formally low-skilled women and youth with migration background by 2035 in #Hamburg. Key highlights: 🎯 YOUTH: more lobbying and #networking is needed to get the “NEETS” (Not in Education, Employment or Training) into (formal) employment.  🎯 WOMEN: a “holistic basic education centre” as a #pilot in one district in Hamburg would be an important step to better meet the needs of the heterogeneous target group and would facilitate integration.  🎯 Raising #awareness among companies and the business community for the needs and potentials of both groups (Youth/Refugee Women) is essential.   Next workshop will engage with policymakers into the policy transfer phase - but all this, after Hamburg elections. Stay tuned! #resilience #integration #labourmarket #youth #women #policy

  • 🟣 News from TIMES lab 🇮🇹 Last Thursday 30 January, the TIMES lab organised its second community workshop in Cesena with more than 40 participants and moderated by Fondazione IU Rusconi Ghigi & Comune di Cesena, with invited experts from Università degli Studi di Ferrara & European Future Innovation System (EFIS) Centre. 🎯 The workshop focused on co-designing solutions in four core-areas related to the challenge of 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 - topics emerging from the previous community workshop: ✅ Unified portal, to manage groups of spontaneous volunteers, enhancing their skills and fostering their sense of security. ✅ Training, to develop an effective community training system to better prepare for future crises. ✅ Communication tools, to strengthen communication between the Public Administration and the network of informal community spaces. ✅ Logistic bases, to organise logistical support for spontaneous volunteers during emergencies. ▶️ All groups worked with needs analysis through a personas tool, then moved into an ideation phase outlining fundamental elements of each solution and exploring existing opportunities for implementation; finally, they defined the actions to develop before, during and after a crisis for each solution. • 🟣 Highlights from the last webinar on 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 Nora Ratzmann, Ph.D. from DeZIM-Institut who presented an overview of social integration in Europe with highlights of the German experience: ✅ It's not about people arriving; it's about how #hostinstitutions are able to respond or not, how the infrastructure is in place, how it can adapt, how it can be flexible to new needs. ✅ Our dialogues with stakeholders showed that there needs to be a long term cooperation in #networks - that everybody knows about the others roles, competencies, their good working relationships so they could be activated in the moment of pressure. ✅ What proved to be a good practice is to have a #coordination force within local governments that coordinate #volunteers to receive information from the ground because they have a lot of knowledge helping refugees or newcomers on what is needed and feeding that back to the different administrative units.
