🌟 Highlights of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel meets Grant Thornton Audit Workshops 🌟 Over the past two weeks, we hosted four inspiring audit workshops at Grant Thornton Vilvoorde. These sessions, led by our partners Gunther Loits and Gregory Desmet, focused on auditing in all its aspects. Gunther and Gregory assisted the students with their case studies and introduced them to real-world work at the Grant Thornton office. These workshops were the grand finale of the module following the guest lectures, providing students with an opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. Through a challenging fictitious case, they tackled themes like risk assessment and audit testing under expert supervision. The workshops wrapped up with nice receptions, perfect for networking and sparking further discussions. A special thank you to professor Diane Breesch and Menno Craninckx for their valuable contributions! We kick off the series ‘Women in Hockey/Business’, together with Hockey Belgium Grant Thornton and the Belgian Hockey Federation face similar challenges, including the underrepresentation of women in leadership. Therefore, we want to share inspiring stories of women in the hockey and Grant Thornton community. In this first episode Marie Brasseur (President of La Ligue Francophone de Hockey) and Nadia Clinckspoor (Certified Tax Advisor and Partner at Grant Thornton Belgium) share their story. “After graduation I worked at a large company where women with a family simply could not become senior manager, fortunately a lot has changed.” – Nadia Clinckspoor “Women put themselves under pressure and think they are not allowed to fail.” - Marie Brasseur. We zijn trots om deel te zijn van een project dat bijdraagt aan de oplossing van een van de meest urgente maatschappelijke uitdagingen: betaalbare woningen. Samen met onze partners en dankzij de steun van minister Melissa Depraetere, hebben we gewerkt aan dit unieke woonproject in Heist-op-den-Berg: Woonschakel Berg en Nete. Een mooie mix van sociale en budgethuurwoningen die niet alleen woningen biedt, maar ook gemeenschappen versterkt. Head of Real Estate Brixius Kell zegt: “Een project als dit heeft altijd vele moeders en vaders. Onze dank gaat uit naar de Vlaamse regering, en in het bijzonder ministers Depraetere en Diependaele, voor het scheppen van een kader dat deze samenwerkingen mogelijk maakt. Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat het aanbieden van een degelijke woning aan eenieder, een woning die dan een warme thuis kan worden, een stap in de goede richting is en zijn dan ook gelukkig ons steentje te kunnen bijdragen.” Bedankt aan iedereen die heeft bijgedragen aan dit succes! We are proud to have played a part in shaping the ‘Women in Hockey, supported by Grant Thornton’ event in Brussels, organised by La Ligue Francophone de Hockey. Collaborating with Hockey Belgium on such impactful initiatives is an absolute honor. This inspiring event brings together Francophone club leaders to discuss actionable strategies for empowering women in all aspects of hockey. Nadia Clinckspoor, Partner at Grant Thornton Belgium, took the stage to highlight the critical need for greater diversity in leadership. The first part of the morning was packed with inspiring and great keynotes: ◾ Marie Brasseur discussed the projects, vision, and ambitions of the Ligue Francophone de Hockey. ◾ Nadia Clinckspoor highlighted the significant role Grant Thornton plays in promoting equal opportunities for everyone. ◾ Géraldine Zeimers explored the barriers to and incentives for female participation in sports. ◾ Jennifer Foucart delved into the motivational factors that encourage women's involvement in sports activities. ◾ Ellen Schouppe addressed the unique aspects of coaching young girls and women in field hockey. After the keynotes we joined interactive brainstorming sessions, to explore solutions and shape actionable steps. This event was a powerful reminder that real change starts with conversations like these. Thank you, Hockey Belgium, La Ligue Francophone de Hockey and everyone who participated.

Ons nieuw kantoor in 4Wings Westerlo is officieel geopend! Dit vierden we samen met onze Kempense klanten. Tijdens een panelgesprek deelden onze gastsprekers Nadine Versmissen (4Wings), Dirk Thys (O3 Shift), Jef Pelgrims (Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen), Dominiek Plancke (ETAP Lighting) en onze eigen Kristof Wuyts op welke manier zij duurzaamheid integreren in hun onderneming, enerzijds vanuit technologie en innovatie, anderzijds vanuit het bredere perspectief van de maatschappelijke duurzaamheid. Ook het meer dan ooit relevante thema van inclusie werd aangeraakt. Veel dank aan Hannelore Simoens om aanwezig te zijn als gastvrouw en om als moderator het panelgesprek in goede banen te leiden. Vincent Vanasch, doelman van de nationale hockeyploeg Red Lions, bezorgde ons een inspirerende keynote en vertelde gepasseerd over hoe de Red Lions zijn gegroeid tot een ijzersterk team, mede dankzij de waarden die ze gemeenschappelijk dragen. De avond werd verdergezet met een walking dinner waar nieuwe connecties werden gemaakt en waardevolle gesprekken werden gevoerd. Voor de fans maakte Vincent Vanasch tijd voor een signeersessie van zijn biografie ‘The Wall’ en gaf hen zelfs de kans om met hem en de Olympische gouden medaille van 2020 te pronken op de foto.
