Awareness empowers us to recognize the scope of the problem and the urgent need for collective action. 🛡️ Prevention: Small steps make a big difference—hygiene, vaccinations, healthy living, and protecting our environment are essential to reduce infections and the need for antibiotics. 💊 Antibiotic Stewardship: Responsible use of antibiotics in humans, animals, and agriculture is crucial. Correct prescriptions, avoiding misuse, and understanding risks help safeguard these life-saving medicines. 🗨️ Dialogue with Healthcare Professionals: HCPs are key allies in the fight against AMR. Our environment, food systems, and animal welfare are all part of the AMR puzzle: 🌱 Environment: Antibiotics used in agriculture and healthcare often end up in our soil and water, fueling resistance in the environment. Combatting AMR requires responsible waste management and reducing environmental contamination. 🍎 Food: Antibiotic use in food production impacts the safety of what we eat. Ensuring sustainable farming practices and reducing antibiotics in livestock helps protect the food chain and, ultimately, our health. 🐾 Animal Welfare: The health of animals directly affects human health. Improving animal welfare through proper care, vaccination, and reduced antibiotic dependence is key to reducing AMR transmission between animals and humans. This forum will focus on nurses, while also highlighting the interconnected roles of our medical colleagues. Retaining skilled health professionals isn’t just a nursing issue—it’s an integral challenge across the entire healthcare ecosystem, and finding a way in the new European Parliament and European Commission Mandate countours. In Europe’s political and policy domains, we continue to see struggles in creating a unified narrative and approach to these challenges.
