About us
MEDENER is the Mediterranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Conservation. It brings together agencies in the Mediterranean region in charge of energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energy sources, two key conditions for the success of the energy transition. In 1997, due to the need for stronger cooperation for the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy in the Mediterranean region, MEDENER was created in Tunis in the form of an international non-profit organisation. Today, it brings together 12 national agencies from the northern and southern banks of the Mediterranean, Algeria, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Portugal, Spain, Syria and Tunisia. Two observers has joined MEDENER in 2016, Malta and Mauritania. With regard to future expansion, the organisation aims to eventually include other countries such as Turkey and Egypt. It is open to any national organisation that implements energy-related and environmental policies. The organisation is registered in Madrid at the headquarters of the agency IDAE (Spain). The secretariat is currently handled by its members, which hold the presidency on a rotating basis. MEDENER promotes regional projects related to energy efficiency and renewable energy development.

Time to wrap up a very successful 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐌𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 in Tunisia 🔚 🎯The three-day event brought together more than 250 energy experts representing officials, policymakers, stakeholders, municipalities, and private sector from the Mediterranean region with the aim of promoting the energy and climate transition♻️. 👏 👏 We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our distinguished speakers, guests, and partners who graced the conference with their presence, as well as our esteemed online participants, the interpreters, technicians, and the team at the Le Royal Hammamet for their hospitality. 🔸Throughout 16 sessions, the conference offered participants multiple opportunities for active engagement, with high-level sessions and technical parallel sessions to reflect on implementing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy measures, focusing on Buildings and Appliances, and demonstrating successful pilot projects led by partners. 🔸Discussion topics included how collaborative work can enhance energy transition in the Mediterranean region, stimulating dialogue towards net zero emissions in the building sector, and presenting innovative financing mechanisms to foster investments in sustainable energy. One session also explored synergies between the meetMED and the PeebMED projects, both EU-funded programs. 🔸The event concluded with a workshop training session on energy transitions for journalists and two site visits at the Municipality of Nabeul and Sky Energy Company. 👉🏾 For more: https://lnkd.in/d_tv9BX8 European Commission, MEDENER, Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development(ENEA), Agence Marocaine pour l’Efficacité Énergétique (AMEE), ADEME, ADENE - Agência para a Energia, Agence Nationale pour la Maîtrise de l'Energie ANME, APRUE الوكالة الوطنية لتطويراستخدام الطاقة و ترشيده ,Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES), IDAE.
