The presence of Pancreatic Cancer Europe at the #ESPENsymposium last week brought significant value, particularly through their promotion of the video series on pancreatic cancer and nutrition—a project co-funded by MNI. One key component of this series is an educational video for patients and carers "What is Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN) and How Does It Work?" HPN is important for patients who are unable to absorb nutrients from food due to pancreatic damage or surgery. Watch and share: https://lnkd.in/enTSwPnZ

MNI is proud to have been one of the sponsoring partners of the 11th #ESPENSymposium, held last weekend in Sintra, Portugal. This year’s event focused on Home Nutritional Care: From General Practice to Parenteral Nutrition, highlighting the importance of providing appropriate nutritional support across diverse care settings. Good nutrition is an essential part of care, ensuring patients receive the right support at the right time; whether in hospitals, community settings, or at home. For patients unable to maintain a healthy energy balance through food alone, parenteral nutrition offers a solution that can be temporary or lifelong, depending on their needs and medical conditions. 🎥To learn more about the impact of home parenteral nutrition and how it supports patients in leading independent lives, watch our video here: https://lnkd.in/esxqfu_4

🚨 A major milestone in highlighting nutritional challenges for older adults 🚨 The OECD - OCDE's Health at a Glance Europe 2024 report sheds critical light on the issue of malnutrition among older Europeans. Nearly a quarter (23%) of adults over 65 are at high risk of malnutrition, with risks even higher for those over 80, women, individuals with comorbidities, and residents in long-term care settings like nursing homes. This is a reminder of the urgency to address disease-related malnutrition as a public health priority, specifically for elderly. 💡 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/emJf7eVD

Here is another article from our #NutritionalCareInsights series: Whereas normally parenteral nutrition is administered in hospitals, in some circumstances it is possible – and indeed preferable – to administer the parenteral nutrition outside the hospital, either at home or at a nursing home, i.e. as home parenteral nutrition (HPN). Access to HPN varies across Europe, creating challenges for patients and carers. In this article, MNI highlights the main barriers and potential strategies to improve access and quality of care.
