About us
NANAQUA offers top-level training to a new generation of high-potential doctoral candidates (DC) in emerging water treatment techniques, providing them with both transferable and scientific skills that are essential for thriving careers in this vital and rapidly expanding field. In this interdisciplinary training through research program, NANAQUA DCs will focus on nano(functionalized) materials that are redefining the possibilities for safe, efficient, and sustainable water treatment solutions. NANAQUA is set to create a tangible impact through a synergistic mix of pioneering doctoral research, intersectoral secondments, international mobility, and cross-disciplinary education. The position has focus on developing an innovative two-dimensional liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCxLC-MS) method for monitoring Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) and their degradation products in environmental water. 🎓 Guided by Prof. Deirdre Cabooter and Prof. Raf Dewil, this research aims to design a highly sensitive LCxLC-MS system that can resolve and identify degradation products (DPs) formed through nano-photocatalytic water treatment processes. 🔬 You’ll be developing novel approaches to combine orthogonal LC methods, such as reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) and hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC), to enhance the detection of CECs and DPs at nanomolar concentrations.
