🚀 ONTOX at the ESTIV Training Course: Insights into PBK Modelling and QIVIVE Susana Proença, a leading researcher from ESQlabs GmbH and ONTOX expert, shared her expertise on ⭕ PBK Modelling and Quantitative In Vitro-In Vivo Extrapolation (QIVIVE) at the ESTIV Training Course hosted by Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). With a career dedicated to bridging the fields of in vitro and in silico toxicology, Susana specializes in toxicokinetics and QIVIVE. Her work spans renowned institutions, including ECVAM at the European Commission’s Joint Research Center, Utrecht University, and Wageningen University. Currently, she leads the toxicokinetics work package within the EU-funded ONTOX project. At ONTOX, Susana is developing PBPK models and a robust QIVIVE framework targeting six disease ontologies, focusing on liver, kidney, and developmental neurotoxicity. Her contributions are essential to advancing next-generation risk assessment and reducing reliance on animal testing 🐁 . Theo de Kok, an ONTOX scientist and professor at Maastricht University, presented ⭕ The use of ‘omics’ in in vitro toxicology during the European Society of Toxicology in Vitro ESTIV Training Course at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). 💡 With expertise in toxicogenomics, Theo’s work focuses on human exposome research and in vitro toxicology in liver and colon cell cultures. His studies explore exposures from food, drugs, cosmetics, and the environment, contributing to the understanding of how these impact human health.  🧑🔬 As a European Registered Toxicologist and an active member of various toxicology initiatives, Theo brings a wealth of knowledge to the ONTOX project, further advancing animal-free, next-generation risk assessment methods.  👏 We are honoured to have Professor de Kok represent ONTOX at this prestigious training course, driving innovation in in vitro toxicology and supporting the field's growth. #ONTOX #ESTIV #Toxicology #InVitro #Omics

🌟 Another exciting moment at the European Society of Toxicology in Vitro ESTIV Training Course at Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST)! Mathieu Vinken, ONTOX expert, shared his expertise in the presentation ⭕ Liver-Based In Vitro Models for Toxicology Purposes. Mathieu is a full professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a visiting professor at the University of São Paulo. With a background in 🥼 pharmaceutical sciences, he is a European registered toxicologist and past president of ESTIV. His research is centered on mechanistic and in vitro modeling of liver toxicity.  A highly accomplished scientist, Mathieu has published over 📰 200 papers, serves as an 📝 editor for several toxicology journals, and coordinates numerous European projects, including ONTOX. Luiz Ladeira, an ONTOX scientist, delivered an insightful presentation on ⭕Introduction to Adverse Outcome Pathways in In Vitro Toxicology. Luiz, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Liège, Belgium, brings a rich background in cell and structural biology and has been a vital contributor to ONTOX. His work focuses on advancing NAMs by refining Adverse Outcome Pathways, computational modeling, and ontology mapping. Her second presentation of today focused on ⭕ Good in vitro method practice (GIVIMP and OECD GLP). Helena’s vast contributions to NAMs and topical toxicity testing have earned her 🏆 prestigious awards like the Doerenkamp-Zbinden Prize and Björn Ekwall Memorial Award.
