  • 📢 Today, the Commission presented the Clean Industrial Deal (CID), a flagship initiative to revitalise the EU industrial base while staying on course to deliver the net-zero transformation. Representing manufacturers of the clean technologies that enable industrial transformation, competitiveness and decarbonisation, Orgalim strongly supports the focus on building a solid business case for decarbonisation: ✅ The Affordable Energy Action Plan addresses key concerns for industrial consumers. The proposed measures to reduce electricity bill taxation, speed up clean energy infrastructure development, and boost flexibility are a positive step forward to encourage industry’s broad-scale electrification    ✅ We welcome that circularity will be a priority as it creates a more sustainable industrial model that benefits the environment and enhances competitiveness. The announced new Circular Economy Act should address existing gaps and barriers as well as reduce administrative burdens and simplify where necessary the tsunami of new initiatives adopted recently under the last Circular Economy Action Plan.    ✅ We welcome the commitment to an ambitious trade agenda. Our industries need FTAs and other partnerships to diversify their value networks and remain competitive. However, the CID would be more robust with a dedicated strategy recognizing the crucial role of advanced manufacturing for sustainable prosperity across various industrial sectors in the EU.  Furthermore, measures to help energy intensive industries to decarbonise must not hinder the competitiveness of downstream industries: 🟡 CBAM puts our industries at a disadvantage compared to international competitors. Urgent and drastic action is needed to avoid massive carbon leakage in downstream value chains, while simplification is needed as a short-term relief for the huge administrative burden CBAM entails.    🟡 We are concerned that ever-increasing levels of state aid will lead to further inequalities and distortions on the single market. National state aid should not go beyond 2% of GDP. For public funding initiatives, Orgalim asks for an increased focus on research & innovation and to radically simplify access to EU public financing.     🟡 Depending on how they are implemented, measures to develop lead markets could create additional burdens for our industries.    🟡 When assessing the need for new trade defence instruments, the Commission must fully consider potential impacts on downstream industries.

  • 📢 Alongside 20 other industry associations, we are calling for the EU to urgently re-think Appendix C (“Generic criteria for do no significant harm (DNSH) to pollution prevention and control regarding use and presence of chemicals”) of the EU Taxonomy framework. This appendix creates a significant usability issue that is preventing the makers of technologies needed for the green transition from aligning their reporting with EU Taxonomy. If left unchanged, European-based companies 🇪🇺🏭 will be at a competitive disadvantage ❌💰 as they will not be able to access green financing 💶🌿 while still being subject to the significant cost of reporting 📊 within the requirements of EU taxonomy. 👉 Read our joint letter for more details: https://lnkd.in/dRe53nKG

  • The Digital Product Passport (DPP), introduced under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), will store information on products’ 🌿 sustainability, 🔄 circularity, and ✅ regulatory compliance. While it will help enhance circular economy practices and compliance within the European single market, the expected complexities of its implementation require a balanced approach that takes into account stakeholders’ needs, operational feasibility and regulatory requirements. To maximise early benefits and mitigate risks and implementation complexities, we are calling for a staged implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP)) system, which would help: 🔹 Achieve early impact by realising circular economy benefits from the very start 🔹 Reduce risks by minimising implementation complexity 🔹 Support SMEs by cutting down initial bureaucratic and financial burdens We propose a staged implementation of the DPP system, separating the efforts into two stages. 🔍 Stage 1: Provide a minimal viable DPP system. Manufacturers would publish their DPPs with public information   🔐Stage 2: Implement the identity and access management requirements allowing for differentiated access to restricted data. 👉 Read Orgalim’s full recommendations for more details: Orgalim recommendation for a staged implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) - Orgalim

  • Orgalim, together with other industry representatives calls for a stronger focus on advanced manufacturing in the upcoming Clean Industrial Deal. Together, we urge the European Commission, and in particular Mr. Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, to prioritise advanced manufacturing as a corestone of EU competitiveness, sustainability, and economic security. 📍 Key Points in the Joint Letter: ➡️ Advanced manufacturing drives innovation and productivity, supports sustainability, and contributes to the circular economy. ➡️ Without strategic action, the EU’s competitive edge in this sector is at risk, especially as other global markets advance. ➡️ We call for a dedicated strategy for advanced manufacturing to ensure the EU remains a global leader. This is a pivotal moment to foster the growth and development of European industry. We need immediate action and recognition of advanced manufacturing in the Clean Industrial Deal to maintain our position as a global innovation hub. 🔗 Read the full letter here: https://lnkd.in/dYwqKxpX #CleanIndustrialDeal #AdvancedManufacturing #EUIndustry #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Competitiveness #EULeadership #Digitalisation #IndustrialResilience #innovation #industry

  • The single market is our greatest asset in the race to secure Europe’s long-term industrial competitiveness and net-zero transformation – but only if the EU reverses the growing fragmentation of the internal market and recommits to strengthening and deepening it. • Last week, Orgalim's biannual in-person meeting on corporate sustainability was kindly hosted by our member Danish Industry. The discussions were very timely and focused on the upcoming omnibus proposal for simplification. The outcome of the discussions on the EU taxonomy and the CSRD was unanimous: ⏸️Pause⏸️ the rollout of reporting obligations for smaller companies and simplify and 🧽clean🧽 the reporting processes for all companies to make compliance easier and less costly. Special thanks to DI for kindly hosting our meeting and to all our members for providing their timely expertise on the EU taxonomy, CSRD and CS3D.
