  • The talent you hold onto 👇 Two months into her assignment at #Shell, Andrea Schulze saw an open call: 📢 “Who wants to represent Shell at the Energia event? Topic: Young employees as driving forces of the energy transition.” She had no stage experience. No deep expertise in Shell’s sustainability strategy. No certainty about what to say. But she had something more important. Ambition to learn and improve. Andrea stepped forward when others hesitated. She prepared, refined her message, and took the stage. In front of 150 people, she delivered. She spoke about the role of young professionals in Shell’s shift to sustainable energy. When her project ended, Shell offered her a new challenge.     “Kan jij een keynote geven over de energietransitie en de rol die Shell daarin speelt? Voor zo’n 150-tal mensen?”, kreeg één van onze trainees als vraag. Toen we twee jaar geleden van Shell de vraag kregen om ze te versterken, wist ik niet dat dat het begin was van een nogal hobbelig parcours. “Dat past niet bij mijn waarden”. “Ik vind het eigenlijk niet oké dat jullie überhaupt voor Shell willen werken.” Dat Gen Z een duidelijk ethisch kompas heeft? Check. Gelukkig zijn er ook Gen Z’ers die het als een mooie uitdaging zagen. De transitie van binnenuit mee vormgeven van - wat zij beschouwden als - olie mastodont tot een mooi energiebedrijf? Yeah, let’s do this! Die eerste samenwerking was een succes. Dank aan Daphne De Bie. Na Daphne slaagde ook Manon Bergers erin om de Ormit-vibe binnen te brengen in een zeer challenging context. En Manon gaf de fakkel door aan Andrea Schulze. Andrea vloog haar rol bij Shell met enthousiasme en daadkracht aan. Na 2 maanden kreeg ze - net als alle andere medewerkers onder de 32 jaar - een mail: “Wie wil Shell vertegenwoordigen op het Energia event, met het topic: Young employees as Driving Forces of the Energy Transition?” “Oh, ik,” flapte Andrea eruit. Andrea had geen podiumervaring (ze had wel al drie supersterke Ormit-opleidingen rond storytelling, communicatie en presenting with impact achter de kiezen), werkte nog geen 2 maanden voor Shell en wist bijgevolg ook niet wat haar input over de energietransitie zou zijn. Wat ze wel wist, is dat ze wil ontdekken of ze keynotes geven tot haar sterktes kan rekenen. En dat ze net buiten haar comfortzone in het verleden al fascinerende vaststellingen had gedaan. Dus daar stond ze, op een podium, voor 150 mensen. Andrea stak de strafste getuigenis af over de duurzame energiebronnen waar Shell op inzet en de rol van jong talent daarin. “Wat mij het meest opviel, was het gevoel van eenheid – van jonge politieke afgevaardigden die hun visies presenteerden over beleidsafstemming tot dynamische discussies over innovatieve oplossingen zoals hernieuwbare technologieën en waterstofinitiatieven. Samenwerking tussen industrieën, overheden en jong talent is essentieel om de transitie effectief vooruit te helpen.” Toen niet veel later haar project bij Shell op een einde liep, kwam de vraag: “Andrea, wil je niet nog even blijven?” Dus daar zit ze dan, met een prachtige ervaring rijker, en een straffe nieuwe opdracht bij dit energiebedrijf dat inzet op duurzame energiebronnen én op jong talent. Dankjewel aan iedereen die dit mee mogelijk heeft gemaakt. Om te beginnen Marloes Michon, Els Raemdonck, maar ook Martijn Samson, Tom Welkenhuysen, Rebecca Milan, Patrick Janssen, Christophe Vaessen, Jannes Colaert en het straffe team waar Daphne, Manon en Andrea in terecht zijn gekomen. #OrmitTalent #Innovation #YoungTalent
