🌊🚣♂️ Magyar Agrár- és Élettudományi Egyetem (MATE)'s MATESzedd Team Joins the 5th Lake Tisza PET Cup 🚣♂️🌊 From late 2023 to March 2024, seven flood waves hit Hungary's River Tisza, leaving significant waste in floodplain forests. The 5th Lake Tisza PET Cup, held from June 27-30, 2024, mobilized 19 teams with 370 members and 80 canoes to clean the river. MATE's Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety proudly participated with their "MATESzedd" team. Together, they cleared over 7.5 tonnes of waste, mostly PET bottles, glass, and metal cans. The MATESzedd team finished mid-competition, showcasing their commitment to environmental action and education. This effort highlights the importance of protecting our environment and the power of collective action. Supported by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the REPurpose Horizon Europe project, and the Hungarian Government Guarantee Fund, the team's involvement underscores MATE's dedication to environmental stewardship and student engagement. 🌍💪 Check out our latest news on the website to learn more about this event! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gzjYqwTw #EnvironmentalCleanup #Teamwork #Sustainability #MATE #LakeTiszaPETCup

🏆 Awarded students visited the Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE-AKI) research facilities as part of the REPurpose awareness-raising and dissemination events. 📣 Last week, the thematic events concluded with a special visit to the MATE-AKI research facilities for the top teams in the primary school competition. Awarded students, accompanied by their teachers, explored the research and experimental labs, gaining insights into university courses and ongoing projects. They were particularly fascinated by the ecotoxicological research, zebrafish lab, and other fish farming systems under the REPurpose project. Witnessing their curiosity and joy was truly rewarding. This initiative aims to nurture environmental awareness and passion for research, with the hope of seeing many of these students as future university students and young researchers. 🔬 👩🔬 #Education #Research #EnvironmentalAwareness #FutureScientists
