"Those who provide care have to be visible, and they have to be respected." Today in Europe, both carers and those in need of care still face significant barriers to living in dignity. This is a challenge we cannot afford to overlook. At yesterday's event, 'The Future of Long-Term Care in Europe', we brought together policymakers & civil society experts to shine a light on these pressing issues. Together, we explored ways to improve the quality, accessibility, and affordability of long-term care, while discussing policy solutions and opportunities under the #EUCareStrategy. Thank you to all our speakers for exposing the stark realities of discrimination—faced disproportionately by people with disabilities, undocumented people, Roma communities, and racialised groups. A special thank you to MEP Ignazio Roberto Marino, MD, ScD and Katarina Ivanković Knežević, Director Social Rights and Inclusion, DG EMPL for addressing the next legislative steps needed to respond to these challenges. Let’s continue this vital conversation to ensure dignity for all.
