Discussions on the next EU Multi-Annual Framework 2028-2034 have already begun, and we are ready. 🚄💶🇪🇺 UNIFE is calling on Europe's decision makers to increase EU financial support to rail, as part of a strategic plan to meet climate objectives, boost local #jobs and to ensure #Europe and it's industries are more #competitive globally. President Ursula Von der Leyen has said this will be "an investment Commission". With this in mind, we have identified key areas that must shape the configuration of the next EU long term budget to boost rail traffic and promote the modal shift to sustainable transport. His Excellency the Mexican Ambassador to the EU, Belgium and Luxembourg, Rogelio Granguillhome, and UNIFE's Director General Enno Wiebe, discussed how to support Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum's ambitious national rail development plan to transform the country's transportation infrastructure with the assistance and know-how of the European institutions and the European Rail Supply Industry. In Mexico, new and upgraded infrastructure is planned including the delivery of new passenger and freight trains as well as solutions for urban mobility. 🚝 The European rail supply industry is ready to contribute and make the vision a reality with the support of #TeamEurope and #GlobalGateway. #Mexico #EU #Rail

Moving ahead with our Working Group meeting we are now exchanging with Felix Fernandez-Shaw Director for Latin America and Caribbean at EU European Commission's Directorate-General for International Partnerships. We need to map which are the strategic countries and projects to engage with, build alliances to offer #TeamEurope integrated packages including political support, financial tools and industry expertise. Engaging very early in the project cycle will be key to succeed with the support of Global Gateway's tools. #GlobalGateway #ERSI 🚄

Today, we are kicking off the 2⃣nd Global Gateway railways Latin America & Caribbean Working Group, co-chairing it with European Commission's DG INTPA and its Director Carla Monteai. We are aiming at increasing the presence of EU businesses abroad by supporting transport decarbonisation through rail. We need to build alliances to pursue projects, while promoting the EU rail technical framework and fair public procurement standards, including the application of MEAT. Global Gateway is the pathway for EU suppliers to do business beyond EU’s borders! #GlobalGateway #ERSI 🚄🌎

The future is gender balanced. Women still face many challenges due to gender discrimination, especially when it comes to the job market. In 2024, women in the EU still earn less than men, are less likely to be in positions of leadership and are less represented in areas such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Gender equality is a priority for Parliament and that is why over the past years, Parliament has worked on several laws to protect women from discrimination and social biases in all aspects of their life.
