The U.S. Mission to the European Union (USEU) is the direct link between the U.S. Government and the European Union (EU) in Brussels, Belgium. The United States has maintained diplomatic relations with the European Union and its forerunners since 1953. Over the years USEU has grown as U.S. relations with the EU have become deeper and more complex. In 2000 the Mission moved into its present building at 13 rue Zinner, near the historic center of Brussels. Today the Mission is home to some 100 employees representing the Department of State, as well as the Departments of Commerce, Agriculture, Homeland Security, Justice and Treasury; the Agency for International Development and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) has awarded Ambassador Mark Gitenstein and Bjoern Seibert, Head of Cabinet of the President, European Commission, with the AmCham EU Transatlantic Business Award 2024. The award formally recognises their exceptional efforts to enhance #transatlantic cooperation. They worked very closely over the last three years to ensure strong alignment on both sides of the Atlantic. As individuals, they built an important culture of dialogue and trust that was critical to advancing common priorities in the EU and the US. Together, they played an instrumental role in the united transatlantic response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the development of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
