  • Judge Andrew Siegel made history recently by wearing a virtual reality headset during a stand-your-ground hearing, marking the first known use of VR evidence in a U.S. courtroom. The immersive experience, created on Oculus Quest 2, allowed the judge to view events from the defendant’s perspective. Defence attorney Kenneth Padowitz, who introduced the technology, argued that it provided a vivid understanding of Miguel Albisu’s claim of self-defence during a chaotic altercation at his wedding venue. This groundbreaking use of VR evidence not only highlights the growing role of technology in legal proceedings but also raises questions about its potential psychological and ethical implications. As VR becomes a tool for creating empathy and authentic experiences, its ability to shape courtroom outcomes could redefine the boundaries of justice in the digital age. 🚀 Key takeaways from the XRBB x Lufthansa Future Narrative event at the Lufthansa Innovation Hub in Berlin! Lufthansa is leading the way in XR adoption for aviation, unlocking new opportunities for business clients, the XR industry, and industrial virtual worlds. 🛋 VR in Business Class Cabin Design – Lufthansa used VR and digital twins to design their new Business Class cabins, significantly reducing costs for physical prototype development, training, and marketing. This also improved sustainability, as no physical materials were wasted on design iterations. ✈️ In-Flight VR Experiences – Business & First Class passengers use integrated VR headsets for 3D travel experiences, multiplayer games, and virtual events. Challenges include logistics, charging, and storage, but the adoption rate is promising—5 out of 8 headsets used on night flights. 🛠 VR Training & Workforce Development – From maintenance & cleaning simulations to conflict resolution for cabin crew, XR provides a safe space to train without judgment, improving learning outcomes. 🏗 VR for Airport & Cabin Design – Lufthansa redesigned its boarding area using VR feedback from employees and passengers, shifting from traditional waiting lines to an open, self-check-in space. 🌍 Future: AI & Connectivity in XR – AR glasses like Meta Ray-Bans could provide real-time feedback for crew, but in-flight AI processing & connectivity remain challenges. Local Edge AI could be the next step. 💡 Economic & Industry Takeaways 🔹 XR could replace traditional screens, cutting costs. 🔹 Content licensing remains a bottleneck (Hollywood requires encrypted USBs). 🔹 Multiplayer VR is expanding, with WiFi-based experiences on the horizon. Lufthansa’s approach proves that XR in aviation isn’t just a concept—it’s a scalable reality. These insights are valuable for enterprise clients, training providers, and the industrial XR space. Thanks to Anna Schneider for the inspiring vibes at the Lufthansa Innovation Hub What’s your take on XR adoption in business & industry? Let’s discuss! 🚀 #XR #EnterpriseXR #Aviation #Training #AI #FutureOfWork
