The #INC5 on the International Binding Instrument to End Plastic Pollution (ILBI) starts today. In the run-up to the #INC, we have spent the last few days engaging with governments, NGOs, consultants, associations, value chain partners and industry. It is clear that all parties want an agreement. It is also clear that the issue is multi-faceted and requires different and tailored responses depending on geography, nation, application and material. It was good to see that since 2022 the #INC process has already helped to create a much better understanding of what the answers might look like, and it has greatly helped to create a dialogue between the different stakeholders who need to work together to end plastic waste - to listen and to learn. It has helped to build trust between the parties and also greater confidence in our industry. I would like to thank the teams from the International Council of Chemical Associations (#ICCA), World Plastics Council (#WPC) and #PlasticsEurope for their positive engagement and constructive preparation. We hope that by the beginning of next week, the ILBI will be a driver for a circular economy and a feasible and inspiring framework for ending plastic pollution. #OurPlasticsJourney #PlasticsTreaty #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Innovation
