Java Architect

KPMG IT Service OOD is an IT service provider with a mission to digitalize the core business of the KPMG network member firms and their clients. We employ more than 500 people in Sofia and deliver the full spectrum of IT services to our clients, including ServiceNow solutions, SAP solutions, Software Engineering, Application & Platform Operations, Cloud and Infrastructure.

We are looking for an experienced Java Architect to join our team. You will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance, scalable Java-based applications while ensuring alignment with business goals and technical strategies. You will collaborate closely with development teams, stakeholders, and other architects to define and oversee the entire system architecture for our enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement the overall architecture of Java-based systems to ensure scalability, performance, and security.
• Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines for development teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and manage technical risks.
• Lead the design and integration of APIs, web services, and microservices architectures.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and suggest adoption strategies where appropriate.
• Ensure architectural alignment with business needs and overall technology strategy.
• Conduct code and design reviews to maintain high-quality development processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to performance, scalability, and integration.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience, with a minimum of 3+ years in an architecture role.
• Expertise in Java SE/EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps practices.
• Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and secure coding best practices.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as Oracle Certified Java Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or similar.
• Experience with SOA, event-driven architecture, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
