The world faces big challenges. Building bridges and partnerships must be the answer if we seek to solve any of them. Because of this belief, I was honored to meet with Rafael Kenji F. Hamada, MD, MBA, and Eduardo Lobo, and learn about their mission. At Academy Abroad, they bring medical doctors from Brazil to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation in healthcare at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business. Their cohort included a doctor who had already raised US$40 million, a neurosurgeon who developed a VR solution to teach neurosurgery techniques across the globe, and aspiring entrepreneurs. Their most recent cohort has been featured in national news articles in Brazil. I had the honor to, along with Marial Leonidakis, support Professor Stephen Brand in delivering a workshop to them focused on customer-centric Design Thinking, crucial in the development of any solution in healthcare. They also had the opportunity to visit Babson College, and learn about the work being done in Brazil at The Kerry Murphy Healey Center for Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Innovation in healthcare in Brazil can be tough - teaching doctors to think through entrepreneurial lenses might be the answer we need to accelerate the progress so patients can have better experiences going through the systems. This is why the work being done at Academy Abroad is so crucial. My sincere gratitude to President Stephen Spinelli, Leila Scott Lamoureux, Wiljeana Glover, Ph.D., and Michele Bernier for their warm welcome to the cohort at Babson. Together, let's work towards building a global community of innovators dedica
A pleasure to recently host a group of Brazilian doctors from The Academy Abroad on campus at Babson College. #EntrepreneurialLeadership extends to communities and industries everywhere. We all have the power to create impact. Thank you, Barbara C. S. Pinto MSEL’24, for helping make this moment a reality.
