  • On November 8th, we hosted our 3rd Annual Investor Day at Amazônia Gourmet—a day dedicated to meaningful connections and insights. The event was packed with value: we shared updates on our fund's performance, announced our latest investment, and provided our perspectives on the future of SaaS and Venture Capital in LatAm. Beyond the discussions, we hosted a delicious integration activity and provided some of our founders with the opportunity to showcase their work and share their progress direclty with our/their investors. The energy and enthusiasm from our investors and portfolio founders made the day unforgettable (and spicy) - It was inspiring to see everyone fully engaged! Our community is the backbone of everything we do, and we’re deeply grateful for your trust and partnership. A special thank you goes to our amazing event partners, Lucia Sirin and Vanessa Sirin, from Sirin2, whose support was instrumental in making this day a success. Here’s to more moments like this as we continue building the future of SaaS in LatAm together!

  • Major SaaS Transaction in LatAm! Experian has announced the acquisition of ClearSale at a valuation of BRL 2.065 billion, marking a 23.5% premium over its current share price, though only 44% of its IPO valuation. ClearSale, known for providing anti-fraud solutions, is a key player across major e-commerce platforms and financial institutions. The transaction values ClearSale at 4.3x its June LTM Net Revenue of BRL 483.5 million. Since 2022, the company has averaged 2.1% revenue growth QoQ, maintaining a gross margin near 40%. Despite this, the company's June LTM EBITDA stood at BRL -34 million (-7.2% margin), with a cash burn of BRL 197 million over the past year. Despite ClearSale's modest growth and challenging unit economics, this acquisition underscores the liquidity and exit opportunities available for SaaS businesses with good retention and strategic value for acquirers. • SaaSholic and Cubo Itaú have teamed up again!! Our Tech Run’s 4th edition took place during Cubo Conecta 2024, Itaú's main event for the entrepreneurship and innovation. We brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and technology professionals for a different kind of networking experience: it wasn't a competition, but a light-hearted gathering that combines sport, well-being, and networking. We were amazed to see so many athletes gathering together at 6:30am for an early dopamine shot! 👊🏼 Thank you Cubo Itaú, TRACK&FIELD, Mombora!

  • Yesterday we hosted our event "AI for Efficiency Gains in SaaS," as part of our new initiative, SaaSholic Session. These workshops are designed to support SaaS founders in targeted areas. Our first session aimed to address a gap we have felt in the current landscape of AI discussions. While many events cover topics like "The Future of AI" with a broad, non-practical view, others dive deep into technical aspects for CTOs. There seemed to be a lack of practical, actionable discussion on "Street Smart AI": the quick, practical applications of AI. We thank all the participants who took the time to come, particularly our speakers—Roberto Viana and João Lanzarotto from Ipê Digital, Hugo Dias from Triple Session and André Assis from Yooga —who generously shared their insights and practical steps for efficiently implementing AI strategies. The discussions spanned various topics, including the use of AI in Customer Service, Sales for both high and low-ticket items, as well as best practices for utilizing WhatsApp. Special thanks go to Pedro Luiz Rego and Marcella Falcão and the entire Cubo Itaú team for their partnership in this event. Collaborating with you was, as always, a pleasure.

It is time for the second edition of Giants of SaaS, a series of articles sharing the untold backstage stories of the largest tech entrepreneurs in Latin America. In this article, we cover the journey of TOTVS (B3: TOTS3). Famous for its amazing feat of owning the ERP market in Brazil. Their journey is among the titans of the tech industry - not only locally, but globally. And although the company may be flying under the radar outside of Brazil, TOTVS is the indisputable unsung giant in the region. As usual, this article will feature the stories from the companies’ early days, interviews with the founders, executives, and analyses from renowned investment firms. The unusual bit is that this story will be divided into 2 different articles. It is impossible to tell TOTVS' story without making sure its pre-IPO inception is meticulously explored, as it shows how amazing it was to have the vision the founders had before the microcomputer was a thing. We are very proud of the journey of local SaaS entrepreneurs, and we have decided to share with the world, in English, the captivating stories of companies that pioneered the internet in the region. The following editions, which will be released soon, will cover, Vtex, Gympass, Olist, Unico, Vercel, Nuvemshop, Hotmart, d-local, Linx, Neogrid, and Auth0. https://lnkd.in/deg3tjC8
