A Transformative Week at the PEI Impact & Transition Investor Summit We were honored to be recognized as one of the best up-and-coming managers in impact investing at the 2024 PEI Impact & Transition Investor Summit in New York City last week —a testament to the dedication and experience of our team. During the summit, Lyne Landry, ICD.D participated in a thought-provoking panel discussion alongside industry leaders Michael Kubzansky and Josh Cohen, exploring the risks and opportunities of integrating AI into impact investing. Key takeaways included the critical role governments and LPs must play in safeguarding AI by establishing regulatory frameworks, promoting ethical standards, and funding responsible innovation to ensure AI aligns with societal values and minimizes risks. From a VC’s perspective, Lyne highlighted pressing challenges in health tech, such as bias in medical diagnoses, privacy violations, and the potential erosion of the patient-doctor relationship, as well as fintech risks like bias in lending, cybersecurity threats, and transparency issues. The panel emphasized the dual responsibility of managing these risks while harnessing AI’s transformative potential for good. In addition, Lyne shared actionable steps for AI governance during due diligence and portfolio support, including: - Data Governance: Ensuring datasets are diverse and representative to reduce bias. - Bias Audits: Regularly evaluating and mitigating discriminatory outcomes. - Explainable AI (XAI): Promoting transparency in AI-driven decisions. - Cybersecurity: Safeguarding privacy and data in sensitive sectors. - Balanced Oversight: Integrating human oversight with technological innovation for sustainable growth. The summit reinforced our belief in the power of collaboration. Through initiatives like the AgeTech Investor Network, developed in partnership with AARP, we aim to drive systemic change and innovation in aging-related markets. Thank you to PEI and all the incredible participants for an inspiring and impactful event. Together, we are not just imagining the future—we’re building it. #AgeTech #ImpactInvesting #AIForGood #LongevityEconomy #SustainableDevelopment #Innovation #PEISummit2024 #Collaboration #Leadership

Today, October 1st, we celebrate the United Nations International Day of Older Persons! This year’s theme, "Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide," calls on governments, policymakers, and social services globally to take concerted and sustained action to address the physical, social, psychological, and health needs of older persons. Remarkably, life expectancy at birth now exceeds 75 years in half of the world’s countries, a significant increase of 25 years since 1950. This shift underscores the importance of empowering older adults to live healthier, wealthier, and more fulfilling lives. The Luxury of Ageing is a global content platform and collective of game-changers radically reimagining ageing, challenging outdated narratives, products, services and policies. Instead of viewing older adults solely through the lens of care needs, they celebrate the potential and contributions of older adults, championing their value and the richness of their experiences. Join us in celebrating the richness of experience and the boundless possibilities that come with age. Together, we can reshape the narrative around aging, champion a future where every older adult can thrive, and ensure that solutions are accessible to all! https://lnkd.in/eHUP7qfW #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons #RethinkAgeing #AgeTech #InnovationForAll

Today, 1st October, is the United Nations International Day of Older Persons. This year's theme is "Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide". While the demand for healthcare and social support services will doubtless grow as populations age, at The Luxury of Ageing we want to continue to challenge the status quo of ageing. Instead of seeing older adults solely through the lens of care needs, let's recognise the potential, contributions and the value of lifelong growth. We think it's time to change outdated narratives, policies and products for older people. We are taking this opportunity to hero The Guardian's Observer Magazine which has long reflected a cultural shift toward embracing ageing and redefining what it means to grow older. By showcasing stylish, active and accomplished individuals from older generations, this publication contributes to the conversation about age positivity and the idea that ageing can be vibrant and aspirational. More diverse representation in advertising and media means more opportunity to challenge outdated views on ageing. #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons #RethinkAgeing
