Thank you for your dedication to advocating for agriculture, Minister RJ Sigurdson.
As Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, I hear your concerns about potential tariffs on agricultural exports. Advocating for our industry has always remained my top priority. Alberta’s government is actively working to protect our farmers and ensure the stability of our trade with the U.S and President Trump. Together we will work together to ensure our agriculture sector remains resilient and continues to grow.

A huge shoutout to the dedicated producers who braved the incredibly cold high-speed winds and less-than-ideal roads to attend the Producer Meeting in Grande Prairie! Despite the challenging conditions, you made it out for a quick update, enjoyed some warm food for your bellies, and then headed back home. Stay safe and warm out there, everyone!

Thank-you, La Crête! We had an incredible time at the La Crête Producer Meeting. Your participation and the engaging conversations made it a truly memorable event. It was a lovely evening up north - Santa couldn't make it, but his elves sure did! We're grateful for the opportunity to connect with such a passionate and dedicated community. Together, we're shaping the future of Alberta beef!

Producers in the Northwest Zone, you're up first! We'd like to take a moment to acknowledge a couple of many great events in the last two weeks. Thanks, first, to Alberta Cattle Feeders' Association (ACFA) for inviting us to attend the Annual MLA Dinner. Brodie Haugan (ABP Chair) and Brad Dubeau (ABP General Manager) were pleased to attend alongside a tremendous turn out by MLAs, including Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. This week, we are are pleased to be attending the Montana Stockgrowers Association Annual General Meeting, which is seeing an impressive number of attendees! Events like these build relationships both here and across the border. We are grateful for the opportunities to connect, share insights, and strengthen our industry together. Thank you to all who make these events possible. We look forward to more collaborative efforts in the future.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Chris Mills' passing. Chris was a dedicated leader in the Canadian beef cattle industry, serving as the Western Representative of the Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) from 1972 to 1981, and as the General Manager of the Alberta Cattle Commission (now ABP) from 1980 to 1987. His contributions continued through the '90s with contract work for both organizations. Chris was inducted into the Alberta Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2004, recognizing his many achievements, including the elimination of the Crowsnest Freight Rate Subsidy, which significantly boosted western cattle feeding. Chris will be remembered for his passion, dedication, and the lasting impact he had on the industry.
