From November 8 to 13, 2024, the Lake Chad Basin Conservation Project team, funded by Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada, conducted a mission in Maïlao and Mandélia, located in the #RAMSAR sites of Chari-Baguirmi province, #Chad. During this mission, the team actively informed and supported women's and youth groups in both communities on the objectives and procedures for the micro-grants available through the project. In collaboration with the Lake Chad Basin Commission and the Organisation Sauvons le Lac Tchad (OSLT), Alinea International’s team engaged directly with potential beneficiaries, explaining the eligibility criteria, distributing the call for applications, and offering technical assistance for the preparation and submission of requests. Through participatory discussions, the team identified the specific needs of the local communities, which are primarily made up of farmers, herders, and fishermen. The team encouraged women and youth to apply for the grants to support projects that would enhance their daily lives and improve their ability to generate income. Du 8 au 13 novembre 2024, l’équipe du Projet de conservation du bassin du lac Tchad, financé par Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada a mené une mission à Maïlao et Mandélia, dans les sites #RAMSAR de la province du Chari-Baguirmi, #Tchad. L’équipe a informé et soutenu activement les groupes de femmes et de jeunes des deux localités sur les objectifs et procédures des micro-subventions qui seront octroyés dans le cadre du projet. En collaboration avec la Lake Chad Basin Commission (CBLT) et l’Organisation Sauvons le Lac Tchad (OSLT), l’équipe d’Alinea International a échangé directement avec les bénéficiaires potentiels, leur expliquant les critères d’éligibilité, diffusant l’appel à candidatures et offrant un appui technique pour la préparation et la soumission des demandes. Les discussions participatives ont permis d’identifier les besoins spécifiques des communautés locales, principalement composées d’agriculteurs, d’éleveurs et de pêcheurs. The DEFI project, funded by Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada celebrated the #16DaysOfActivism against gender-based violence (GBV) in Ségou, #Mali, with students and school staff. While the campaign ended last week, the commitment to fighting GBV continues. On December 5, 2024, a women’s soccer match was organized at Sido Soni Koura school. Before the match, students were sensitized to the various forms of violence in schools: harassment, sexual violence, physical violence, psychological violence, and their impact on education. Teachers, School Management Committees, parents, as well as female and male students, were encouraged to promote non-violence and ensure the school remains a safe environment. They were also urged to report GBV cases by breaking the silence to help eliminate this issue. #GBV #NoToViolence #EducationForAll #Inclusion #DEFI #Ségou

Le projet DEFI, financé par Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada a célébré les #16JoursDActivisme contre les violences basées sur le genre (VBG) à Ségou, #Mali, avec les élèves et le personnel enseignant. Bien que la campagne soit terminée la semaine dernière, l’engagement contre les violences basées sur le genre continue. Le 5 décembre 2024, un match de football féminin a été organisé à l’école de Sido Soni Koura. Avant le match, les élèves ont été sensibilisés aux différentes formes de violences en milieu scolaire : harcèlement, violences sexuelles , violences physiques, violences psychologiques et leurs conséquences sur la scolarité. Le personnel enseignant, les Comités de Gestion Scolaire, les parents, ainsi que les élèves filles et garçons ont été invités à promouvoir la non-violence et à faire en sorte que l’école soit un environnement protecteur. On the 140th anniversary of the Ukrainian women’s movement, the Women in Defence (WiD) organization and the Ukrainian Association of Women in Law Enforcement Officers (UAWLE), both established with support from the Canadian government, collaborated to present "Transforming Leadership: Lessons from Women in Defense and Security." This event, brought together women leaders from the defence, security, and legislative sectors, to discuss the evolving concept of leadership and its transformation. Attended by Natalka Cmoc, the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, the event provided a valuable platform for exchanging experiences, inspiration, and networking opportunities for women in the security and defence sectors. The WiD and UAWLE organizations were, established with the support of Alinea International projects PROTECT2 and Police Stabilization Project (PSP) respectively.
