Thanks to Donald Trump’s social media trade tactics, the world is talking about the Canada-US automotive relationship. Great to talk to Sky News about how interwoven our two countries’ investments are and how important it is we are aligned regarding China.

Manufacturing is being disrupted. The transformation of the sector to support sustainable and digitalized operations is underway, and there are great opportunities for Canadian manufacturers to lead and grow. One of the key challenges is to make sure that the existing workforce has the skills they need to support our growth and that our colleges and universities understand the skills advanced manufacturing needs so that the new workers coming in the sector are ready, but exactly what are the skills that are needed? As a part of NGen's Future Ready project, a program funded in part by the government of Canada under the SWSP program, NGen, in partnership with Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association (APMA) SIMSA - Saskatchewan Industrial and Mining Suppliers Association, Downsview Aerospace Innovation & Research (DAIR), Canadian Marine Industry and Shipbuilding Association, BioTalent Canada and Food Processing Skills Canada reached out to survey Canadian manufacturers about the competencies of their existing workforce as well as the skills they anticipate will be required in 2030 and 2040. The report provides great insight into the skills and needs of the manufacturing workforce. Phil Arthurs,Lauren Tedesco,Eric Anderson, Colin Cooke, David K. NGen has published a series of new reports investigating challenges across the manufacturing landscape. Two of the biggest challenges facing manufacturers is ensuring that their workers have the right skills to support them as they take on new technologies and practices, and onboarding enough new workers to support sustained operations and growth. 🔗Check out the full press release and research papers: https://lnkd.in/eW5yce5Z 📝To read more about NGen’s workforce research initiatives, visit www.ngen.ca/futureready. -- NGen a publié une série de nouveaux rapports sur les défis rencontrés dans le secteur manufacturier. I was thrilled to present Flavio Volpe, C.M. with the Presidential Award of Distinction for our collaborative work on Project Arrow, the first ever all-Canadian built EV. With Flavio the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association (APMA), and the rest of our partners, we collectively accomplished something huge, that all of Canada 🇨🇦 should be proud of. Flavio is a first-rate guy, and told me when considering a build partner “we would not have even attempted it without Ontario Tech University”. 🙏 Thank you and congratulations!
