Off with the truck packed full of gifts and my two little elves to spread Christmas cheer! Grateful to have the privilege to sponsor 5 families for Christmas this year – for the 5th year of what is truly one of my favourite traditions of the season. Thanks to Applied Industrial Technologies - Canada community donation fund for helping me out with a grant to allow me to help even more folks out in need! This year had a special moment for me while doing this, and I really felt the true spirit of Christmas. This past weekend, Eve and I were shopping for the families and an elderly lady stopped us in the store and asked if we were secret santa shopping (my stack of lists and spreadsheets must have given it away…). Before I could open my mouth, my little girl had launched into an explanation (as 5 year olds often do…) saying ‘my mommy and I are out shopping for families that can’t buy their own stuff this Christmas so we can help them. My mommy and I have been doing this since I was born so we can help give them a nice Christmas too. I am her elf and I help too and we deliver the presents to them together. And because you know what? It’s important to help other people out when they need it because that is what Christmas is all about. It’s about helping other people and being kind and spending time with family’. The woman had tears coming down her face and couldn’t stop thanking us. In that moment, our hearts were both so full. That’s the good stuff. To my friends, colleagues and network – I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and holiday season. I hope it’s safe and filled with great memories. Wishing you the best as we head into 2025!
