At Argyle, we are deeply committed to fostering meaningful conversations around reconciliation. Today, on Orange Shirt Day, also known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to reflect on the tragic legacy of Residential Schools and honour the strength of survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities. In observance of this important day, our offices will be closed on September 30, encouraging our team to dedicate time for reflection, learning, and healing. As part of this commitment, we’ve provided our team with orange shirts from the Orange Shirt Society - one of our valued partners - to symbolize our shared effort in raising awareness about the ongoing impacts of Residential Schools. Today and every day, we stand with Indigenous communities and reaffirm our pledge to support the ongoing journey toward healing, education, and reconciliation. 🧡 For additional resources on this day, visit https://heyor.ca/WwzNRm #OrangeShirtDay #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #IndigenousReconciliation #ArgylePR

Over the past few months, our team has had the pleasure of working with the team at the Network for Victim Recovery of DC (NVRDC) on some media resources for staff and survivors. More and more, survivors of crime want to tell their stories publicly to own their story, effect change, and reach others in similar situations. This week, we marked the culmination of this project and spent time together understanding the media landscape, the media's impact on survivors' of crime, and sharing media outreach best practices with the team. We even got to hear from Ted Oberg about his job as an Investigative Journalist and the media's role in trauma-informed storytelling. We can't wait to see how the NVRDC will take all they've learned and continue to empower survivors in their community. Most definitely a career highlight for me and a project I will never forget.

Special thanks to NBC4 Washington's Ted Oberg for joining us for a facilitated discussion on the media's role in trauma-informed storytelling.
