About us

The Athabasca University Students' Union (AUSU) is an independent, student-run society representing the undergraduate students of Athabasca University. We represent over 35,000 members annually in home-study locations across Canada and internationally. In any given month, our membership is about 26,000 active students. Due to the widespread nature of our membership, AUSU operates as a virtual organization run by staff located in Edmonton, and directed by an elected board of up to nine active undergraduate students. Our mandate is to provide advocacy, support, and student services to our membership, and to foster the support, promotion, and excellence of distance education at AU and globally. One of AUSU's key goals is to ensure that our members receive a quality education that is respected and transferable to institutions within Canada and abroad. We also continue to monitor distance education options available within Canada to ensure that AU remains competitive in its use of educational technologies, course and program offerings, and student service options. Find out more about AUSU and the full range of services available to our members at www.ausu.org.
