Research shows people with mild hearing loss are 3x more likely to have a history of falling than their peers without hearing loss. This #NationalFallsPreventionAwarenessWeek, check out this episode of Starkey Sound Bites featuring Dr. Patricia Gaffney, AuD, MPH, an audiologist with a specialty in vestibular diagnostics and treatment. She and Dr. Dave Fabry talk about emerging research, as well as the important role hearing professionals can play in helping their patients prevent falls. https://brnw.ch/21wNcOR #HealthyAging #HealthAgingMonth #FallsPreventionAwareness #HearingLoss

We are entering a time that will stress our health care resources beyond capacity. Support of those who provide care is essential, and prevention is crucial.
Enhancing the lives of people living and working in dementia care homes, as COO of Highview Residences and Founding Partner of Sam Hamilton.
"Surprising facts about dementia... Over the next 30 years, we anticipate the number of people living with dementia in Canada will grow by 187%. By 2030, almost 1 million Canadians will live with dementia. Its impact is and will continue to be felt across all borders, sectors and cultures. Studies shows that colonization and stress from racism can affect brain health. Addressing these factors is important in preventing or delaying onset of dementia. Women are doubly affected (almost 2:1 dementia cases and >50% of caregivers), and by 2050 1 in 4 people with dementia will be of Asian origin" From the Landmark Study-2, and thank you to Alzheimer Society of Canada... https://lnkd.in/gc7C2R6X
