Creative city building requires an eclectic group of stakeholders to leverage artists and youth in transforming communities. Honoured to have been joined by mayor Jeff Jordan, councillor Jennifer Korstanje, mural artist Patrick Nunziata, elf, and paw patrol to cut the ribbon on Balsam Christmas Market in Downtown Grimsby. Castlepoint Numa in partnership with Corporation of the Town of Grimsby launched a new holiday tradition all in support of the community services group Grimsby Benevolent Fund.

This transformative mixed-use development will feature a 45-storey tower atop a 6-storey podium, bringing 565 residential units, 4,600 SF of commercial space, and 376,700 SF of residential space to Weston Village. Weston Village was settled 230 years ago strategically on the edge of the Humber River as a trading path. Weston initially developed along both sides of the river until a disastrous flood in 1850 destroyed the west bank settlement. 100 years later in October 1954, Hurricane Hazel flooded the Humber River valley, causing major destruction and deaths. In response, low-lying areas in the Humber River valley were converted to parkland and property zoning standards were changed across Ontario to avoid building encroachment on floodplains. Today with the support of Councillor Nunziata, Jag Sharma, and the City of Toronto, SvN has been working alongside the Weston community in Toronto to develop new ideas for this storied river’s edge. The Weston Loop will build on the heritage identity of the much-loved park network in Weston, knitting the parks together with novel connections and destinations through a 4-km multi-use trail.
