After working closely with our internal sustainability team, we have now delivered a 55,000 sq. ft., two-storey, mass-timber structure that serves as an administration building, industrial facility, and warehouse. The zero-carbon project includes innovative designs such as a vertical open-loop geothermal heat system, a six-pipe water-to-water heat pump system with underfloor air distribution, a hybrid hydrogen/natural gas generator, and so much more. After reviewing the architectural seating element that surrounds the Ice Pond on our Hawrelak Park project, the team decided to prefabricate the formwork so they could self-perform the concrete pour. Matt worked with the team to create a digital model, that replicated the various curves and changes in elevation, and with his previous experience as a member of the self-perform crew. This two-storey Canadian Western Bank location in Lethbridge, Alberta, includes a lobby, offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, and a kitchen. We’re transforming this greenfield site into a future Edmonton, Alberta, neighbourhood. In partnership with HomeEd and Reimagine Architects, we’re building 91 net-zero townhomes that will include community spaces, play areas, and barrier-access-free units. To achieve our sustainability goals, we are tracking carbon emissions throughout procurement and construction and are using an energy model that focuses on building envelope performance and mechanical efficiency. #EdmontonConstruction #AffordableHousing

In 1999, we had 130 employees, completed 62 projects, and Franklin Playter and Dennis Kuschminder joined our team. Franklin and Dennis started at our only office at the time, in Edmonton, and since then have been involved in over 150 projects and become leaders within our organization, sharing their knowledge with hundreds of other team members. The new DIW Milk Concentration plant in Blackfalds, Alberta, will process 300 million liters of milk annually once construction is complete! Spanning 46,000 sq. ft., the facility will support local dairy producers by converting raw milk into a concentrated form that is more sustainable to transport. Early Learning Centre. Once it's complete, it will serve as a school for students from kindergarten through to grade six, with an attached daycare. We’re coordinating with both local construction partners and trades from across the Greater Toronto Area, which brought up a challenge of getting materials to the site via ferry.
