A week ago, our CHCH family lost a wonderfully kind and talented colleague and friend. Chantel Grillo was the Director of our Evening News. She died suddenly on Friday October 4, and our thoughts continue to be with Chantel's family and loved ones. Chantel leaves a legacy of passion, pride, smiles and laughter. Her work and creativity was seen in every broadcast, from the decor of our sets to camera angles - not to mention the smiles on the faces of her colleagues each and every day. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Chantel's husband and two children, which we will share here: https://gofund.me/29ddb3f0 We are thankful for the incredible memories. We'll miss you Chantel ❤️

What's a birthday without a party? For our 70th anniversary, we threw ourselves a BIG party, inviting the public to attend. For the first time in a decade, we had a live audience in the studio to watch Morning Live. There were over 1,500 entries for our Studio Audience contest, and the winners toured the station, chatted with our Morning Live team, and visited with Alumni of the station during a continental breakfast! We can't say enough about how amazing it was having our viewers in the station. It was a fantastic experience for us to connect with CHCH fans. Their excitement at being part of our milestone birthday was infectious!

Wow, 70 years! On Friday, June 7, CHCH celebrated SEVEN decades of TV broadcasting, dating back to 1954 when Canadian television was in its infancy. As we look back on our history, we’re humbled by the number of talented people who have worked with us, in front of the camera or behind the scenes, and we’ve never lost sight of the trials and tribulations that the station faced over the course of its long history as a local, independent, station. It's a rich history, entwined strongly with the city of Hamilton, Halton and the greater Niagara region. Built in 1962, CHCH’s broadcasting tower was the tallest structure in Canada until the CN Tower was built 14 years later. We created unique and memorable content from our studios, like Tiny Talent Time, and Hilarious House of Frankenstein. We’ve covered hurricanes, earthquakes, pandemics, and 10 different Hamilton Mayors over the last 70 years. We can’t wait to see what the next 70 years brings!
