This holiday season, we are planting trees on behalf of our employees, clients and partners to make a meaningful contribution to the planet. Through a $10,000 charitable donation to One Tree Planted, our support of the Forest Fire Fund will aid reforestation and help facilitate a healthy ecosystem recovery. Forest fires are increasingly larger and more intense due in part to climate change. Many of our communities have been impacted and we want to give back by planting trees where they are needed most. Team Cion got all fired up for our team building event at the Kortright Centre for Conservation near Toronto, ON. On a sunny day in June, we gathered to sharpen our survival skills with a fire-making competition, seeing who could safely build the most impressive blaze. After toasting s'mores, we explored the Archetype Sustainable Houses, which showcase innovative green building technologies and sustainable living practices. We ended the day with great food, drinks and conversation at a nearby restaurant. Through the day's activities we gained a deeper appreciation of the research conducted at the Kortright Centre, which promotes sustainable living and environmental stewardship through education, research and demonstration projects. The center combines 325 hectares of pristine woodlands with innovative sustainable education programs and events, creating a natural oasis for learning and exploration.
