  • On Wednesdays we wear pink – but today it’s for Pink Shirt Day. Every year on the last Wednesday of February, people worldwide wear pink shirts to promote kindness, take a stand against bullying, and raise awareness of its impacts on youth. Pink Shirt Day was inspired by a 2007 “pink protest” in Nova Scotia. After grade nine student Travis Price was bullied for wearing a pink shirt, two older students arranged for all the boys at their school to dress in pink the next morning, standing in solidarity. Since that first organized effort, the anti-bullying date has been observed in nearly 180 countries. Today, we encourage everyone to wear pink and celebrate kindness, greater acceptance, respect and inclusion our communities.
