🚀 Introducing heMTEB: the health-specific benchmark for information retrieval! We are proud to introduce heMTEB (health-specific Massive Text Embedding Benchmark) and release the CURE — Crosslingual Understanding and Retrieval Evaluation, the first dataset of a collection of open-source benchmarks designed to enhance the MTEB suite and provide the community with domain-specific tools to evaluate language models used in real-world health information retrieval. Developed in close collaboration with medical professionals, the CURE: 🔹 Covers 10 medical disciplines, with per-discipline granularity and supervised by expert health professionals; 🔹 Accommodates all language levels, from layperson to medical expert, replicating diverse environments like patient or health professional; 🔹 Supports cross-lingual evaluation with English-English, French-English, and Spanish-English options. The launch of the CURE reflects our long-standing commitment to building Health-grade Search, where accuracy and speed to the right result are essential to delivering the highest quality care and optimal health outcomes. With the community in mind, we’ve open-sourced the benchmark to support the work of developers, researchers, academics, and health organizations. In health, patients and medical professionals need to quickly find the right answer for the task at hand.
