#Update Redcliffe Labs, a diagnostic service provider, has secured $42 million in Series C funding to expand its operations in India. The funding will be used to open new labs, enhance its collection network, and increase home collection services in Tier II and III cities. The company aims to provide affordable, high-quality diagnostics to underserved populations. With this funding, Redcliffe plans to strengthen its market presence nationwide. Redcliffe Labs has appointed new board and management members to support its growth. Founded in 2018, Redcliffe Labs operates in over 220 cities with more than 80 labs and 2,000 collection centers. This funding round will enable the company to further its mission of delivering quality diagnostics to millions of patients across India. US$60 Mln Funding The numbers are staggering. More than 10,000 people are in hospital at once across B.C., while Quebec grapples with the highest level of patients in its emergency rooms in five years. A newborn with a fever waited five hours to be seen by an emergency physician near Toronto. Patients were surrounded by garbage and urine as they waited 18 to 20 hours for care at a hospital in Fredericton. In Ottawa, the Queensway Carleton Hospital recently said it was operating at 115 per cent occupancy. By midweek, most Montreal emergency rooms were above full capacity, with some operating at roughly 200 per cent. And in Alberta, Red Deer's long-beleaguered hospital was forced to hang tarps to create makeshift treatment spaces. Those headlines come from different hospitals and different provinces. The usual slate of viral threats, from influenza to respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, make this time of year particularly challenging for hospitals thanks to the ongoing influx of sick patients. NICHE TO MAINSTREAM Many health systems have a hospital capacity problem as demand for patient beds rises. When the supply of usable patient beds can’t meet demand, the negative impact on patients and staff can be significant. This can lead to several negative effects, such as surgery cancellations, increased length of stay, and declining patient and staff satisfaction. While building capacity is vital to meeting demand, construction is costly and time consuming, and it isn’t always an option. The healthcare capacity problem has created a massive market opportunity for startups offering technological innovations and solutions. One of the startups is Fabric. Fabric is a health tech startup that is developing a care enable-ment system to automate clinical and administrative work. Founded by Aniq Rahman, the startup's care enablement system offers three solutions: in-person care suite, virtual care suite, and engagement suite. Leveraging conversational AI and intelligent adaptive interviews, it unifies virtual and in-person care across intake, triage, routing, and treatment while automating workflows for staff. The platform helps to create more capacity for healthcare providers to care by eliminating busywork and improving patient experiences with an end-to-end healthcare enablement system. Fabric has raised a $60 million funding round.
