Construction continues to progress on Cielo Condos, thanks to Collecdev Markee's dedicated construction team. Designed by KPMB Architects, the 34-storey luxury build is located in Toronto's Annex neighbourhood, providing new homes in the heart of the city. The project thoughtfully integrates the historic Bloor Street United Church and the George C. Pidgeon House into its podium, preserving significant elements of the neighbourhood's architectural heritage. Cielo Condos beautifully blends modern luxury and historical preservation, contributing a distinctive presence to Toronto's skyline while honouring the city's rich history.
The project involves meticulously restoring the 19th-century neo-Gothic Bloor Street United Church, including interior and exterior renovations. Approximately 20,000 square feet of community and commercial office spaces within the church are being redesigned, and an additional 40,000 square feet of leasable space is being added to support the congregation's ongoing programs. The George C. Pidgeon House, dating back to 1888, is also being preserved and integrated into the development. The west end of the historic house has been demolished to allow for restoration work, including underpinning the decaying foundations, while protecting and restoring its heritage exterior.
The United, Anglican, and Presbyterian Churches of Canada have entered into a collaborative lease agreement to share national office spaces within the refurbished Bloor Street United Church. This partnership aims to foster ecumenical relationships and reduce costs. Cielo Condos is a story of true community collaboration and architectural preservation.
