We are honoured to host a keynote fireside chat between two trailblazing Canadian founders at this critical juncture for our country and economy:
· Katherine Homuth, Founder & CEO of Canada's own SRTX (Sheertex)
Katherine has revolutionized and disrupted the $2 trillion apparel industry with Sheertex, creating "impossibly strong" pantyhose using fibers found in ballistic materials. This Canadian entrepreneur has raised US$200+M. Generated US$155M in revenue. Built a 300,000 square foot facility. Secured big brand customers including H&M, Costco and Walmart. Driven costs from $100 to $7.50 per unit. And she is on track for $5.
· Stephanie Lipp, Co-Founder & CEO of MycoFutures and a 2024 SheBoot graduate: Stephanie leads MycoFutures, a Canadian startup pioneering fungi-based materials as sustainable leather alternatives. Transitioning from gourmet mushroom farming to material innovation, Stephanie's work addresses the environmental impact of traditional leathers.
Here in Canada's Capital and across the country, founders help founders. These entrepreneurs are no exception.
In late 2024, Katherine met Stephanie and heard her pitch:
· She offered MycoFutures $100K in pre-paid purchase orders, requested they charge them more than quoted, and committed to rebranding and launching their first product: a travel pouch made from mycelium leather.
· She offered the team space in her SRTX facility, booked flights for Stephanie and her co-founder to Montreal to start the next day.
· Sales from this pouch will support a major purchase order that will help get MycoFuture to the next significant inflection point.
100% Canadian.
