DEI Consulting Engineers Inc. is proud to have been involved in this extraordinary project!
Step inside The Gaslight District, a landmark revitalization project in Cambridge that transformed a historic brownfield site into one of Canada’s most vibrant public spaces. Designed by MSS for HIP Developments, this project is a masterclass in balancing heritage preservation and modern innovation, creating a dynamic destination where history, culture, and community flourish. Anchored by Tapestry Hall (recently named Best Urban Wedding Venue in Canada), a stunning space within restored heritage stone buildings, The Gaslight District offers: • Waterloo Region’s largest public square • A permanent outdoor stage for live performances • An eclectic mix of restaurants and shops • A massive outdoor video screen • A year-round calendar of community events Every design element tells a story, weaving together the industrial charm of the original foundry buildings with contemporary touches like dynamic lighting, black steel accents, and lush public spaces. As MSS Partner Patrick Simmons puts it, “The details should summarize the project as a whole... it should all work together as a symphony.” Project Consultant Team: HIP Developments Melloul-Blamey Construction The Planning Partnership Daily tous les jours MHBC Planning Stantec ABA Architects Inc.
