Q+ Works Success Story: Rui's Journey! Before Q+ Works: Before joining the Q+ Works program, I faced months of unemployment, along with the financial and mental stress that came with it. As a newcomer with limited work experience and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I found it particularly challenging to secure a job that not only provided a livable wage but also offered a sense of security. With Q+ Works: Since joining the program, I have been receiving a lot of support and accommodations from all the staff on the team, from registration to attending the classes. I was so fortunate to be able to receive not only insightful lessons on Canadian workplace culture and job application tips but also the 1-on-1 sessions with my job developer who gave me very detailed and on-time support throughout my job application journey. After Q+ Works: Thanks to the support and guidance from Q+ Works, I was able to secure a three-month position at ISSofBC as a full-time staff offering employment services for immigrants.
