Last month in Edmonton, in collaboration with our partners Edmonton International Airport (YEG), apple express, BBE Supply Chain Co. and Montana First Nation, we kicked off Phase 2 of our Edmonton delivery service by hosting an event showcasing this major milestone of the project, which includes drone operations across an active runway glide path—a first in Canada. Excited to announce that we are one step closer to delivering essential medical supplies to the Montana First Nation Clinic from the Edmonton International Airport! 

We are proud to celebrate the launch event of phase two of the drone project at Edmonton International Airport (YEG). This extends the drone flight path from YEG to Leduc and marks a historic milestone as the first drone delivery operation in Canada to safely intersect within an active runway glide path. Phase 1 of this project successfully completed over 3,000 commercial drone flights at YEG, covering more than 8,500 kilometers. These flights are part of the more than 9,000 remotely piloted operations managed autonomously from the Operations Control Centre (OCC) in Toronto 3,300 km away. This achievement was thanks to the innovative partnership between Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Apple Express Courier Ltd., BBE Supply Chain Co., Montana First Nation, the City of Leduc and Leduc County. The Canary, Drone Delivery Canada’s latest drone technology at YEG, celebrated the launch of its new route from the airport to Montana First Nation's Akamihk Medical Clinic in the City of Leduc yesterday. Thanks to an innovative partnership with Drone Delivery Canada, Apple Express Courier Ltd., BBE Supply Chain Co., Montana First Nation, the City of Leduc and Leduc County, YEG’s newest commercial drone will be able to sustainably transport first- and final-mile time-sensitive products more effectively. E-commerce drones bring convenience and opportunity to all communities, including remote communities that may not have access to certain goods without the use of drones.
