Exciting progress has been made in Nova Scotia to enable Eastward Energy Inc. to integrate renewable natural gas (RNG) and hydrogen into our distribution system. The Advancing Nova Scotia Opportunities Act will allow Eastward Energy to apply to Nova Scotia’s energy regulator for approval to build a domestic hydrogen production facility or to purchase lower-emitting gases like hydrogen and RNG. Another important milestone was achieved recently when the province’s Technical Safety Division verified the regulatory compliance of blending up to 5% hydrogen with natural gas. Our incredible female engineers recently teamed up with the Construction Association of Nova Scotia to inspire the next generation of female engineers. They shared their personal journeys, giving students a glimpse into a typical day in their roles. The highlight? A hands-on exercise where students designed a gas main for a city street and completed gas meter placements for residential and commercial customers. Great discussions were had, and mentors and students walked away with new insights and inspiration.
