Last month our Health and Wellness team in Zambia ran a great initiative to promote cancer awareness and encourage support for cancer patients. This is just one of the many programs that demonstrate our dedication, not only to our employees but also to the communities where we operate. We aim to collaborate with governments and local leaders to highlight important issues. #CancerAwareness #CommunityWellness #Health

The S3 Expansion Project is the future of Kansanshi and is on track for completion in mid-2025, We are proud of the significant investment that we are making in S3 during the Diamond Jubilee year, and the value that this growth will bring to our surrounding communities, our local suppliers, our work force and the people of Zambia more broadly. https://lnkd.in/euB_kdR4 #Mining #Kansanshi #Zambia #Investment

We proud to have been an integral part of the mining community in Zambia, growing together for 28 years and counting. What started as a tailings project in 1998 has grown to include two operating mines with a third coming soon, as we have not only contributed to Zambia’s economy, but also improved the quality of life for the communities surrounding our mine. https://lnkd.in/euB_kdR4 #Mining #Tailing #Zambia #Growth

Last week at the FT Live’s Mining Summit, our CEO Tristan Pascall, contributed to a panel on mining’s social license and adjusting to the digital world. He discussed the importance of helping people to better understand supply chains, making it easier to connect the work we do to tangible benefits in the real world - for example, without responsible mining of critical minerals such as copper, the renewable energy transition to a low carbon future will be impossible. Additional topics included the importance of open honest dialogue with all stakeholders, direct engagement with the communities in which we operate, the importance of responsible mining and using scientific data to demonstrate the many benefits of our operations. Good mines don’t cost the Earth. Working alongside local leaders and partners in Zambia, we’ve uncovered great ways to help improve farming yields and simultaneously help the government to discourage slash and burn techniques that cause deforestation. As a result of the campaign, we will see increased soil quality and less negative impacts from smoke inhalation. When we see good mines, they support local leaders in making positive change. #Mining #Communities #Emissions

Good mines help improve education. Throughout our decades-long history in Zambia, we have invested over $70 million in education, from formative early years education through to our Kwambula Training at the Solwezi Trades Training Institute. One aspect of this work has been to upskill more than 260 teachers in the Zambia Solwezi and Kalumbila districts, helping them to keep up to date with modern teaching methods. When we see good mines, they support future generations. #Mining #Education #Zambia

Good mines further local education. Our tutoring and educational support in Mauritania is set to help provide a bright future for students who grow up in the harsh environment on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Since its inception, we have delivered more than 2,500 extra hours of tutoring for students preparing to sit national university entrance exams in Mauritania. When we see good mines, they help improve the economic wellbeing of their communities. #Mining #Education #Wellbeing

Good mines look after their local communities. Part of our multifaceted livelihood advancement programme around the Guelb Moghrien operation is a tie-dyeing workshop. It is one example of how we help local communities to grow the local economies near our sites. The programme is designed as a pathway to turn traditional crafts into a living for some of Mauritania’s most vulnerable people. When we see good mines, they care about local people and places. #Mining #Communities #Economies
