Updates

  • Important News for Canadian Donors! The Government of Canada has announced an extension for charitable donations eligible for 2024 tax receipts. You now have until February 28, 2025, to make donations that qualify for tax support. This extension addresses the recent Canada Post disruption, giving donors extra time to contribute while helping charities continue their vital work. However, year-end giving remains critical. Charities rely on donations made before December 31, 2024, to sustain their efforts during the holiday season—a time of both great need and remarkable generosity. Contributions now empower organizations to tackle poverty, hunger, and socioeconomic challenges at a time when they are needed most. While the extension provides flexibility, we encourage you to give before December 31 and receive an instant tax receipt through our platform. Your support today helps charities continue making a meaningful impact.

  • At GiveWise, we’ve been reflecting on what makes a gift truly meaningful. While December is the season of giving, we broadened our thinking to include not just tangible items but also the intangible gifts that shape our lives. Here’s what our team shared as the most surprising gifts they received this season: Tammy Kyte: The most surprising gift I received wasn’t a thing—it was a connection. I met someone who, like me, has been navigating the unique challenges of social innovation and generosity in Canada. This new connection sparked an idea that’s all about collaboration and using technology to meet the tangible needs in our community. Dan Kyte: We’ve had the privilege of being gifted with the time and expertise of some incredible people. These are individuals who have never asked for anything in return. Such advisors and advocates have chosen to invest their time in our mission, and that’s a truly invaluable gift. Jessica Alina Rayne: This year, the most surprising gift I received was the opportunity to reset—across my personal, professional, spiritual, and relational life. I learned that setting goals is essential, but sometimes letting go of goals that no longer serve you is just as important. In my new role at GiveWise, I’ve seen the power of resetting in action as we work with donors and charities. Cristie Moews: A gift I receive regularly is the opportunity to speak with people working for charities and hear the stories behind why they serve the causes they’re passionate about. It reminds me every day of the integrity and passion that exists within these teams, and I feel privileged to be part of a movement that’s dedicated to supporting such meaningful work. Alexis Money: A gift for me has come from our weekly team meetings, where I hear feedback from donors who’ve been searching for a solution for a long time and have finally found us! It’s truly rewarding to hear about people’s excitement in partnering with us to further generosity. This season, we’re reminded that gifts come in many forms—connections, time, renewal, and shared purpose. • Our founders, Tammy Kyte and Dan Kyte, had the opportunity to share the story of how GiveWise came to be—a blend of technology and a heart for simplifying generosity. They shared insights on the challenges, successes, and lessons learned along the way. A big thank you to the TWU Venture Incubator for hosting such an engaging session and for giving students the tools, mentorship, and resources to turn their ideas into reality. It will be exciting to see the businesses that emerge from the incubator!

A New Era of Innovation Begins at Trinity Western University!   December 11th, 2024 marks the birth of TWU Venture Incubator, a space where purpose-driven ideas come to life. The “Seeds to Success” launch event was a resounding success, featuring inspiring speeches, creative pitches, and insightful discussions.   From bold business ideas in the breakout sessions to engaging interviews with successful founders--Tammy Kyte and Dan Kyte from GiveWise Foundation Canada, the energy in the room was palpable. We wrapped up the day by celebrating the winning teams, chosen by your votes!   This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication and expertise of our mentors, including R. Ian Angell, who has played a key role in supporting and guiding this initiative.   This is just the beginning. TWU’s Venture Incubator will empower students, alumni, and the broader community to innovate, collaborate, and bring ventures to life—all while embodying values of service, service, creativity, and purpose.   Here’s to many more moments of inspiration and impact. Together, let’s nurture the seeds of innovation and leave a legacy. 🌱✨   #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #Entrepreneur #TWU #Startup #TWUTWU MBA #FaithDrivenVentures

  • Hear from our Director of Finance and Investments, Dan Kyte, as he reflects on the deep connection between thankfulness and generosity. Drawing on inspiring stories from his work at GiveWise, Dan highlights how ordinary people, driven by gratitude, make extraordinary impacts through their giving. He challenges us all to cultivate thankfulness, not just as an inward practice but as an outward expression that uplifts those around us. Take a moment to read Dan’s thoughtful insights and join the conversation: What inspires your generosity?

  • We’re honoured to be featured by Adam Bornn, CFP® CLU®, as a trusted Donor-Advised Fund! Through the generous advocacy of Financial Advisors like Adam and his team at Parallel Wealth Financial Group, essential social programs are being supported in impactful ways. By using their expertise to help Canadians "Give Wisely," they demonstrate generosity in action. For the many generous Canadians who support multiple charities, the hassle of collecting tax receipts can be overwhelming—especially during tax season. It’s time-consuming and can make giving feel more complicated than it should be. Through our platform, you can simplify your giving by planning your entire year of donations. Your hard-earned money goes to the causes you care about most, and you receive one consolidated tax receipt, making tax time a breeze.
