Respectful engagement with First Nations people is outside the comfort zone of many people. My book, “Walking Together: Engagement Lessons from My First Nations Learning Journey” chronicles my experiences engaging with, and learning from, remote First Nations people across Ontario’s far north. The book is relevant to leaders and technical people in government, industry or academia already working with remote First Nations people or looking to make a first connection for professional or personal reasons, including our respective reconciliation journeys. Having jointly developed an engagement process with a First Nation does not guarantee you will receive the answers you want to hear.
