Today is World Diabetes Day and November is Diabetes Awareness Month. International Diabetes Federation is highlighting the impact of diabetes on well-being worldwide. Diabetes is a chronic condition affecting how the body regulates blood sugar (glucose). With Type 1, the body doesn’t produce insulin, while in Type 2, the body’s cells don’t respond well to insulin, and blood sugar levels can become dangerously high. Left unmanaged, diabetes can lead to complications affecting the heart, eyes, kidneys, nerves, and more.   Did you know Grand River Hospital offers expert diabetes support for all ages? Our Adult Diabetes Education Clinic, which includes the Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) Clinic, and our Juvenile Diabetic Clinic provide individualized care to help patients manage diabetes effectively.   Our healthcare team—pediatricians, nurses, a dietitian, and an endocrinologist is here to guide patients in understanding diabetes and making choices that improve well-being and quality of life.   Thank you to everyone who supports and provides exceptional care to those in our community living with diabetes. 💙 #WorldDiabetesDay #DiabetesAwarenessMonth Diabetes Canada
