In early 2019, I met for coffee with the dynamic Sabrina Bowman (then GreenPAC ED) about the upcoming federal election and non-partisan projects to get climate leadership on the agenda. She told me about GreenPAC’s idea to convene 100 Debates on the Environment at the riding level across the country and I thought, “That is COMPLETELY maniacal and I’m totally in!” Fast forward six-plus years, almost five of them as GreenPAC and now also Environmental Leadership Canada’s Executive Director - and I’ve decided it’s time for my next challenge and will be stepping down in February. Thanks to both boards and my excellent colleagues for trusting me with this gig! The work that GreenPAC and ELC do to build #crosspartisan #environmentaleadership and capacity in politics and support youth and everyday Canadians with the political knowledge and skills to drive environmental progress is unique and so vital, particularly right now. This job has been a regular and total thrill, offering creativity and collaboration across so many sectors, not to mention the daily opportunity to work with, learn from, and support some of Canada’s most effective environmental champions, from the grassroots to Parliament. GreenPAC and ELC are both heading in some really cool strategic directions and I’m excited to see these two organizations keep growing under the leadership and vision of their next ED. Please help us spread the word (job post below) or reach out to chat about the role. https://lnkd.in/gwasxUk7

I know this is a time of year when there are lots of appeals, but hope this is one you can support. With hyper-partisanship becoming a fixture in our political system, there's never been a greater need to promote climate change being an issue that crosses party lines.
🌍 The next election is around the corner—our chance to make an impact is now. This year, record-shattering temperatures fueled wildfires, floods, and disasters across Canada, reminding us of the urgent need for climate leadership. At GreenPAC, we’re gearing up to ensure the environment takes center stage in the next federal election. In past elections, we’ve: ✔️ Endorsed 113 environmental champions across parties—76 of whom were elected ✔️ Held nearly 200 environment-focused debates in communities across Canada ✔️ Elevated the environment in national conversations Every election calls for new approaches, and we’re already working on bold strategies to show leaders from all parties that Canadians expect climate action. 💚 This Giving Tuesday, will you join us? Every dollar helps drive this critical work forward. Together, we can protect what we love and secure a livable future. 🔗 Donate Now: https://lnkd.in/ePMGdgmr #GivingTuesday #ClimateLeadership #Environment #GreenPAC

Thank you to everyone who joined GreenPAC's Breakfast on the Hill on Thursday, particularly our guest speakers MP Dan Albas and Minister François-Philippe Champagne. This was my fourth GreenPAC Breakfast as Executive Director and it is always a pleasure to hear Senators and MPs across party lines fill the room in with conversation with one another and environmental leaders across sectors. A particular highlight for me was the chance to recognize the FIFTY (50!!) incredible youth leaders who have now been a part of GreenPAC and Environmental Leadership Canada's Parliamentary Internship for the Environment and Municipal Climate Internship programs. This network of environmental champions includes policy advisors to Indigenous and all levels of Canadian government, as well as clean economy, community and non-profit leaders... and a sitting politician! A big thanks to our event sponsors and the GreenPAC team for making it all happen!
🎉 Yesterday we hosted our 8th annual Breakfast on the Hill in Ottawa, bringing together Senators, MPs from all parties, Indigenous leaders, youth leaders, and leaders from business, academia, and nonprofits - all committed to environmental leadership. It was inspiring to connect over a hearty breakfast, share insights, and hear impactful remarks from MP Dan Albas and The Hon. François-Philippe Champagne. A big thank you to everyone who attended and to our generous sponsors for making this event possible: Bruce Power, Cement Association of Canada, Insurance Bureau of Canada, Power Corporation of Canada, and Pivot Strategic. Thank you to our small but mighty team ( Beata Rasitsan, Raymond Dang, Sarah Van Exan) who make it look so easy and to Environmental Leadership Canada's Parliamentary Interns for the Environment (pictured with Minister Champagne and program alumni) for lending a hand.

Last week the Cement Association of Canada sponsored and attended GreenPAC's annual Breakfast on the Hill. When it comes to a competitive clean economy, collaboration is the secret ingredient and we're proud to support non-partisan leadership on the environment.

Last week I attended the GreenPAC Breakfast on the Hill, and it was my first breakfast as a Parliamentary Intern for the Environment Alumni. 🌻 It was a great morning listening to political leaders and their perspectives on the climate and environment. Like fellow BC'er MP Dan Albus, and the fireside chat with Minister Champagne and current PIE intern Junan Ferrand. Extremely grateful for GreenPac and Environmental Leadership Canada. They continue to create space for youth in the political sphere, build capacity, and raise awareness. It was also a mini cohort six reunion getting to see Lindsey Solmundson and Isabelle Oke 🪩 It was fun to meet past interns, and meeting the current interns. Thank you GreenPAC and Environmental Leadership Canada for such a lovely morning! ☀️

Attending 8th annual Breakfast on the Hill was such a privilege. Listening to speeches was reassuring how leaders of different political beliefs are equally concerned about our collective future. Big thanks to GreenPAC for providing such inclusive spaces where we could share different solutions to Climate Change - an existential threat to our planet the like of which humanity has never seen before. As our oceans warm, coral reefs disappear, forests burn, wildlife collapses by 73%, glaciers meltaway, cities and towns are swept away in Biblical floods, Climate Change not longer should be a partisan issue. We must work together to save this beautiful planet for our future generations.
