Established in 2002, Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region is a non-profit, non-denominational housing organization. Through volunteer labour and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent houses in partnership with homeowner families. We offer low-income families a hand-up, not a hand-out, giving them the ability to break the cycle of poverty through homeownership. The hand-up comes in the form of a lower than market interest mortgage, with no down payment, and geared to income monthly payments.
At Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region, we ensure hardworking families in need have a safe and affordable place to live. We are always looking for support from our community, whether it be in the form of volunteerism, fundraising or even spreading the word about Habitat for Humanity.
Everyone needs a foundation to build a future. Every home is a building block. Every donation helps a family help themselves. Every helping hand makes a difference.
Vision: A world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
Mission: Habitat for Humanity brings communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. Our mission is to use our knowledge, skills, community relationships, volunteers and other resources to create and promote safe and affordable home ownership options with the aim of alleviating the cycle of poverty within our community.
Stable housing enables a family to provide a safe and healthy environment in which their children can flourish and one day dream on homeownership for themselves. Decent shelter is something we all need to thrive.
