About us
Horse Ability provides professional, ethical, inclusive Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) programs, enabling each participant to build confidence, healthy attitudes, developing skills they carry into their everyday lives. Programs are experiential learning models which are typically used as interventions to encourage social skills development, pro-social behaviour, mental and physical health, through groundwork with horses. The CEO, Lori Burns, is certified three models of EAAT: 1. Equine-Assisted Learning: EAL sessions consist of experiential activities with the horses, focusing on strengthening and developing social-emotional learning skills through connecting with the equine partners. It offers a constructive way to build leadership, teamwork, relationship skills, a growth mindset, and more. 2. Equine Growth and Learning Association (Eagala) model: Empowers clients by working with a facilitation team consisting of a Mental Health Professional and an Equine Specialist. These models prescribe a hands-on approach where participants are given the space to project and analyze their situations, make connections, and find solutions. 3. Patrick Buffalo's Manaciso Healing with Horses:A wellness and healing program that helps participants gently move “from the head, back to the heart”, releasing ineffective emotions through connecting with the Horse Spirit. Participants reestablish the flow of Energy, experience distant healing, soul retrieval, and grief release. Our Programs are tailored for people challenged with: • Self-Discovery and Mindfulness, Personal Development • Leadership & Team Building Workshops • Trauma through Sexual Misconduct • Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries and Occupational Stress Injuries • Substance Misuse, Addiction Recovery Support • Grief, Loss, Depression, and Anxiety • Relationships and Communication including Family Connection

Building Connections, Strengthening Teams This week, we had the privilege of designing and facilitating a one-of-a-kind equine-assisted team building event that truly showcased the power of collaboration and connection. Working alongside our horse teammates, participants had the opportunity to engage in unique challenges that required trust, clear communication, problem solving, and adaptability - skills that translate directly to the workplace. Tailored to align with the organization’s specific goals, the activities created an environment where participants could step out of their comfort zones, discover new strengths, and forge deeper connections with their colleagues. The horses acted as remarkable mirrors of human behaviour, providing immediate feedback and insights into teamwork and leadership dynamics. A huge thank you to everyone who brought their open minds and enthusiasm to the experience. Your willingness to learn and grow alongside our equine partners made this event unforgettable. If you’re looking for a transformative and impactful team-building experience, let’s connect. We’d love to help you design something truly unique and tailored to your team’s goals! Along with our workshop facilitators, our horse teammate Greenie is checking out our ‘Concept Board’ in this photo :) #EquineAssistedLearning #TeamBuilding #Collaboration #Leadership #Growth #StrongerTogether #horseabilityeal #problemsolving #adaptability #connection #trust

Dress Purple Day 2024 is on Friday, October 25. Every October, children’s aid societies and Indigenous Child and Family Well-Being Agencies (child welfare agencies), together with their community partners, raise awareness about the importance of supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families through the provincial Dress Purple Day campaign. We invite all Ontarians to wear something purple to show children, youth, and families that they are here to help! Let’s spread the message that every child has a right to safety and well-being, and that there is help available to all youth who need it.
